I hope that my child, looking back on today
Will remember a mother who had time to play;
Because children grow up while you're not looking,
There are years ahead for cleaning and cooking.
So, quiet now cobwebs, dust go to sleep.
I'm nursing my baby, and babies don't keep.

There's a recipe here for stuffing and lentil burgers which i've made twice and they're really nice. I did find I had to add quite a lot of seasoning though or they were a bit bland.

Hi Yes I have made these lentil and stuffing burgers too but would also say that you need to add plenty of seasoning. I think I also would add some chopped onion to the mixture. They are very cheap though :D

  • Here's my 2 fave lentil recipes - the chilli is so good I think it's better than a meat chilli, so maybe this will help!

    Red Bean Chilli

    veg or olive oil
    1 chopped onion
    14oz can of chopped tomatoes
    2 crushed garlic cloves
300ml white wine & 300ml stock (I use all stock though - dont want to waste good wine!)
    4oz red lentils
    1 tsp dried tyme
    2tsp ground cumin
3 tbsp dark soy sauce - I use any thats going
1/2 hot chilli pepper or dried chilli
    1tsp mixed spice
    1 can red kidney beans
    2 tsp suger
    salt to taste

Heat oil over medium heat and fry gently until soft.
Add tomatoes and garlic and cook for 10 minutes.
    Stir in wine and stock.
Add lentils, tyme, cumin, soy sauce, chilli.
Cook for 30/40 minutes until lentils are cooked - add water if lentils dry out.
Stir in red kidney beans and sugar and cook for further 10 minutes then serve.

This also freezes really well. I like to serve it with choped mango/chopped avocado/yoghurt and rice.

    Lentil Dhal

    6oz red lentils
    1 pint water
    1 tsp ginger pulp
    1 tsp garlic pulp
    2 fresh green chillies chopped
    salt to taste

Put all the above ingredients in a saucepan and cook until soft - about 15 mins - should be like mashed lentils when finished - then serve - thats it really easy! I sometimes add some chopped coriander if I have any around. This is great on its own with rice or naan bread or as an accompanient to a main indian dish.
