.....not forgetting the dual layer DVD writer!
WinXP-MCE & remote would set you back the best part of £120 on it's own!0

Not forgetting a further 3% cashback via Quidco, taking it to £247 :-). Bargain! Shame I just bought a Dell! An excellent spot though IMO.Just noticed that EGG have a 10% cashback on So, you could get a branded P4 3.06Ghz, 512mb, 160gb, WinXP-MCE, MCE remote, wireless, with built in digital TV tuner for around £255 delivered!!!!0

Don't you need to use the direct link from EGG's website to get the 10% cashback? I.e. wouldn't that cancel out the quidco cashback?
 Hope I'm wrong - good find OP!0

you do need to go via the direct link from egg, so you could NOT get the quidco as well. Still a fantastic bargain though!0

My friend bought one of these Philips Recon machines from PC World. Looked like a great spec but had an ongoing problem with the DVD rewriter. Wouldnt burn discs from any program. The Engineer came out, looked at it for 5 mins then said he wasnt going to try anything else at it wasnt worth it with the Philips machines. Said the components often were not compatable with each other and that Philips have no part in their construction or design. My friend called PC World Customer Service who took it back without an arguement saying it was not the first.
Good specs though but not up to the usual Philips quality.0

You do realise that you don't need to go direct from quidco to get the quidco discount don't you? Just use quidco in another browser window.pre-reg wrote:you do need to go via the direct link from egg, so you could NOT get the quidco as well. Isnt the next PC up worth the extra £100?
 extra 512 mb ram (£30)
better graphics card (£60 for a decent ish GCard)
the motherboard must be different in someway, as this one has 4 pci slots, the cheaper one has 3.
 90GB extra HD (£55 for a 250GB HD)
 OR
would it be better spending £100 on upgrades? does the standard model have PCI-Xpress?0
-
OR isnt this better value? then spend the extra on upgrades?

Well, if you're after Media Centre (with TV & remote), then no as that'll cost you another £160. Then you'd need to upgrade the CPU, memory and probably the HDD too.daleuk wrote:OR isnt this better value? then spend the extra on upgrades?
