Does anyone know of any companies apart from Vanquis who will give a discharged BR a credit card. Before you all start going on about why would i want a CC,it is because i need to hire a car for the summer in Spain.

  • I am not sure of the companies that would your best bet would be to search for one that offers to people with poor credit.

I would like to say if that is the only reason you want one, why not try a prepaid card? Mastercard cashplus will alow you to hire a car.. www.cashplus.co.uk no interest to pay either. If you use it regular you can also add the credit builder that will help you rebuild your credit file. I use mine for food shopping and also as a form of saving.

or try a capital one card..same astronomical APR as vanquis....but I agree with NM if thats the only reason you need a card then cashplus would be the way I go, all you need to do is purchase the card contact them & they can arrange the car hire bit to be activated

  • Unfortunately the company i use will only except a CC,they need this as a sec deposit when the car is hired.Trying to get them to take my debit card.
  • the cashplus card goes through as a credit card.
  • When i collect the car they will see on the card that it is a cashplus and not a CC.I pay when i collect not on-line.

They see the card as it is a mastercard...the only prob would be if they decided to process fees later & the card had no funds available on it for use

you would have to keep the cashplus for a while before they agree to unlock the car hire bit though

But it is a pre paid Mastercard so will be treated by the care hire company just like any other Mastercard 'credit card'

I have a cashplus mastercard, it comes up as a mastercard and as long as you have sufficient funds on the card, I dont see there being a problem especially since the card is for hiring a car. If you have the deposit amount on the card which they will probable freeze when you pay and hire the car, cant see what the issue is?
