Redundancy payment calculator. This is the legal minimum. Financial institutions, especially where they may be bad press, can often pay more.

Basingstoke can be expensive but there are places that are slighly cheaper if they avoid the circles around the London bound train stations
On the positive front, there are loads of employers and jobs in the area0 -
Hi,
Thanks to everyone. I have calmed down a bit now. Looks like will get a decent redundancy package, ie £cash & 3 months "gardening" leave. At the moment i'm seriously looking at husband getting relocation package which would cover removal costs & legal fees & poss £cash & me getting redundancy & new job. We could than pay off big chunk of DMP & car finance in full. We are looking at Andover area as we could afford a bigger house than we have now but as i have never been there this is a call to all DFW's who near there, ARE WE MAKING BIG MISTAKE moving there?!? As long as houses & local schools OK i think will be better as Hastings is OK but aint that great in either area.Madison's mum

I think Andover is quite nice, and Basingstoke is OK, although a bit estatey for my liking. I once did an interview with someone in Basingstoke and their house was in this rabbit warren of an estate and they told me to call them from my car and they'd come and meet me cos it wasn;t safe to walk round there after dark!! Eek!! Scared me quite a bit I can tell you. But it has nice areas too.
I've been made redundant twice and it is horrible, but once you get over teh shock you can start to plan. Think of it as a chance to make a fresh start, and if you can use your payoff to hammer teh debt then it's been a good thing.

Andover is heaps better than Basingstoke IMO. It's actually very nice I'd live there like a shot but Ruth can't drive and is used to the big city, and there are other reasons.
You have a nice town centre a few minutes in one direction and open country a few minutes in the other and it's a very clean and wholesome place as far as I can see. You have places like Stonehenge a few minutes down the road and you can be in central London in an hour on a good day.[strike]-£20,000[/strike] 0!0 -
Moving to Andover would be a brilliant idea, as I live there and I enjoy it! It is in the process of being upgraded, and we are to have a Asda put up in the near future! I really enjoy living here, and it is a very good little town as it is lively at the weekends. The only thing we dont have at the mo is a cinema, but they are talking about putting one under the asda, and if you cant wait that long then there is always Basingstoke which is 1/2 hr away!
There are plenty of schools to choose from which have had good reports against them, so I say move to our town!!!!
P s sorry to hijack the thread, i know is nothing to do with your problem sorry!!!! Carli J;)To quote my English Teacher:
