    Um, let's see...

I save a ton of money on birth control by using Natural Family Planning, which is also much healthier than hormones or chemicals. And, it doesn't interfere with fertility, so I was able to get pregnant two weeks after we'd decided to try.

Ooh what is Natural Family Planning? It's not the withdrawal method is it? This sounds interesting as I hate taking the pill.

I switched to using aqueous (sp?) cream instead of my normal moisturiser. I use it as a face and body/ hand lotion, whereas before I used to buy seperate. It costs about £3 for a massive tub from superdrug or Boots, and I think its actually a lot better than commercial moisturisers. My skin is really soft and I haven't had any breakouts at all since I started using it.
I'd also reccomend learning to make your own "pampering" treatments, such as face masks. There's stuff about this on the Old Style board, and there's loads of books on the subject in the library. My favorite is a mask made of gram flour mixed with double cream.
Tip my OH came up with after treating me to a bubble bar from lush was to slice it up with a meat cleaver. You can slice most of them into three or four sections and still get plenty of bubbles.

No, it's charting your temperatures and mucous patterns to determine when you're fertile. I suppose someone could combine it with withdrawal and be even more confident that they're not getting pregnant...

The only main drawback to NFP is that you can't cheat on it. The people who get pregnant while doing NFP are those who decided to fudge it here or there. You need your OH's cooperation and respect to do it - a man who is accustomed to a woman chemically sterilizing herself for his convenience may not appreciate being told that he can't have sex whenever he wants. (And, it's not easy for the woman, either... I feel friskier when I'm fertile. duh! :0) )

Dye your own eyelashes (if you do such a thing anyway) using the kits from Boots. They're about £6.99 but will last a year..

Try and get free vouchers for beauty treatments (I havent had to pay for a leg wax all year so far!!).

    Same with hair.

I am quite particular about the brand of moisturiser I use to be honest, but I wait for it to be on offer (3 for 2 or sometimes BOGOF).

As for tampons, I just buy the own brand rather than the branded ones - it makes a bit of a difference, still a pain though!

I'm the same with moisturiser, I can only use a certain brand and it's not cheap. So I go into all the big stores and ask if they have any of their sample bottles (which are quite a generous size). If I manage to blag about 3then that can last me a month or so.

Girls try it, it works for me most of the time unless there's some super!!!!! behind the counter reading me like a book

  • Another thing I do, I've just remembered, is for those that use facial cleansing wipes, what I've done is bought some muslin cloth (baby section in Boots) and cut it into squares. I then use Tesco cleanser (74p) with them and used cloths then go in a box and I wash them on a hot wash once a week. I've got enough squares for twice a day cleansing for a month!! Saved me so much money. Used to spend a fortune on those wipes and now only buy a bottle of cleanser every 6 weeks! :D

Perhaps yours is a little more expensive than mine from the sounds of it :p but I do like the "do you have a free sample?" tactic..!! Also, the Body Shop will give you free samples of most things if you ask...
