Get him to help you make your own flatbreads and then fill them with spicy chicken/ beef and veggies?
A variation of Jerk chicken with rice and peas, using what you have in.
Oven baked risotto
Make your own chicken schnitzels
Must of read my mind - Jerk chicken is amazing - I use allsorts of beans and peas in oursIt's nice to be nutty but's more important to be nice0 -
Thanks for the replies. He has had paella, stir frys, schnitzel and chinese-y meals like sweet and sour before. We often have an English breakfast as a brunch meal at w/ends, so I don't think he would think that was 'different' and living in Yorkshire, we do get Yorkshire puddings on menus that come with their meal inside them- otherwise I'd have done that as Yorkshire pudding is his favourite. I liked the spanish omelette idea but we had omlettes (without potatoes) last night for tea and sorry but our local co-op does not sell squid:p
I have decided to go for the stronganoff as it's one of my fav meals but I don't remember doing it at home for a very long time and pretty sure kids have never tried it. I just had to go out and get some sour cream (walked on the roads instead of the pavements). Just need to decide whether to make it a pork or beef one.0 -
Sorry more replies whilst I typed. Jerk chicken is something none of us have had before. How do you do it?0

I just have to say that I am so jealous that you have a child that WANTS to eat something new, rather then looking at me like I'm trying to poison him if its something he doesn't recognise hehe0

A very European (and very MSE) dish which your kids may not have tasted before is hot spaghetti with butter. Delicious once you get used to the idea...or rice and butter (my kids love it when I pack the hot rice into a ramekin, then turn it over to create a neat little castle of rice. A small chunk of butter goes on top and melts in. If you're worried about lack of protein, it won't kill them as a one-off but you can always grate a bit of cheese over the top.
