Hi with regards to the depression. I found these books helpful:

A self help guide to managing Depression by Philip J Barker
    and
Manage your Mind: The mental fitness guide by Gillian Butler and Tony Hope.

Perhaps you can get these from your library. Also mind do some very good leaflets - see if you can pick some up when you go to the pychiatrist.

Exercise does seem to help depression despite it being the thing you wanted least to do in the entire world (well that's what it felt like to me).

The antidepressants take a few weeks to kick in to get the full effect.

Keep going you sound really determined to be Debt Free and you are doing well coping with a physically demanding job and a running a household.

How's the numbers doing, Mrs A? Did you get any more ticked off today?

I could do with doing a list like that....1. pack books, 2. pack clothes, 3. pack kitchen, 4. pack glasses, 5. pack etc etc....would be a bit boring tho :)

And of course its not just you who reads the words you write....i do too :D

    hi
    1,2,4 and 9 completed today,
i have another confession to make
i went out and blew £35.00 on myself today bought new trousers and tops and shoes and i look fabulous in them but its bad to be spending the cash isnt it?
im going to try and justify it though because i think my depression is lifting slightly well it must be if i went into a shop for a browse, saw myself in the mirror and thought my goodness what are you wearing i looked a complete scruff, really ancient ill fitting clothes and hair that looked like it hadnt been brushed and shoes that were practically walking themselves!!!!! i was so embarrassed and ive been going about like that for ages. if i am trying to make an improvement with my appearance it must mean that i am getting slightly better depression ways.
or is it that i am happier because i have been off work for a week????
ah roll eye's who knows but i do look fabby in my new gear and it was pretty cheap stuff all george at asda.
will i bend over now for my kick in the pants???
    what do you guys think????

It sounds like you are feeling a little better if you are starting to take an interest in your appearance. Don't forget that recovering from Depression is never a straight line and you will have blips but all is not lost and it is just a sign of recovery. (Just wanted to add that so you that when you have a blip it's not the end of the world and eventually the blips last less time and aren't as bad).

Anyway it depends whether £35 is a one off or not. You have to treat yourself sometimes you know- everything in moderation. There's no point saving every penny if it makes you miserable- if it helps lift your spirits and is a rare treat then why not?

If this is your new wardrobe for the next 6 months, that works out on average at £1.35 a day, so that isn't too bad! And if they last you longer than 26 weeks, just divide the £35 by the number of weeks! ;)

Anyway, I think it's a good sign that you are feeling a little better - caring about your appearance (healthier diet, fitness targets, hair dye, new clothes) means you are thinking more positively....this will spread to other things, but give it time, and don't be upset if you slide down a little before you perk up again. :)

Its a slow process, but think of it as a Christmas cake - if you cook it quick on Christmas Eve, it won't taste as nice as the slow cooked one made in September & fed every couple of weeks with brandy! :D

another question for you lovely people
earlier today whilst showing my cousin my new clothes she announces that she went and bought sky for her bedroom!!! and a new i pod for her youngest daughter as a reward for doing well on her exams (all of which went on the credit card).
2 of my darling sons did well on their exams too but i never offered them a reward just a cuddle and told how proud i was of them.
    this is my dilemma:~
am i simply jealous that they rewarded their child financially
or am i being smug just giving love and not putting us into further debt.
although i feel really jealous of them at times. but then yesterday i was telling of how i had cleared over £5k of debt since january and they said that was impressive but asked me why did i bother and isnt life for living if you are making the basic payments every month why go without to pay debt earlier when everyone else is in the same boat?
Do they have the wrong attitude or am i simply being a jealous !!!!!?
    regards

Well, I-pods are pants so it'll probably break before it has been paid for.

Love is not measured by money or presents.

Their attitude stinks, why pay £100s for something that costs £100  That's what minimum payments mean.

Re: your clothes from the post before. I did a major wardrobe turn out as I was getting over my depression, it helped so much. The new outfits were a final butterfly stage of the new stronger me. I'd put it down as an investment to the new improved Mrs A :D

When I did my GCSEs, I did really well, but my parents just couldn't afford to buy me presents or give me money - my Dad had just been made redundant, and my mum was on a low salary. Friends of mine told me that they were being paid £10 for every C grade, £20 for a B, £30 for an A and £40 for an A*. I never felt that I'd missed out, and if anything I felt prouder knowing that I had worked hard to make my parents and myself feel proud, rather than doing it for money! It is also a life lesson, as it showed me that making someone happy, is worth far more than having money or something materialistic to show for your efforts! It is always hard to see someone close to you seemingly being able to buy more than you can, but this doesn't necessarily mean that they have the love and support that your family obviously gives each other. I hope I haven't rambled too much! :)
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.
