CCJ's on credit file

I've seen mentioned in threads that CCJ's remain on your credit file for 6 years. Is this from the date of Judgement or from the date at which the debt is cleared?

From the date of Order (judgement) , the date of satisfaction ( or otherwise) is irelevant.mm2000 wrote:I've seen mentioned in threads that CCJ's remain on your credit file for 6 years. The entry on the file will naturally expire after six years, however the debt will remain, and can technically be re-instated onto the file until satisfied*Sparkle* wrote:i believe even if you dont pay it, it still goes within six years:rolleyes: It’s hard enough remembering my opinions - without remembering my reasons for them :rolleyes:0 -
Oh ok thanks for that wizward didnt know that, so for it to be re- instated does the person who initally started the claim have to initiate it again?file_wizzard wrote:The entry on the file will naturally expire after six years, however the debt will remain, and can technically be re-instated onto the file until satisfiedAbbey Loan £6,000

No the CCJ order from the court will always be valid until the debt is satisfied.
The only part that expires after 6 years is the registration with the CRA's, in theory if the CCJ was still unsatisfied after 6 years and the entry had naturally expired from the credit file the original claimant could rightfully request that it is re-instated on your file. However in practice I have never seen this happen.
Also as stated before, it is only the record at the CRA which expires after 6 years, the Court order is Lawful for ever (within reasonable time scales) It’s hard enough remembering my opinions - without remembering my reasons for them :rolleyes:0 -
