Dvd recorders - I don't understand these things..

My mum bought a Dvd player for our daughter's 1st birthday (so we can play all the dvds mum got her with vouchers from Daily Mail), would you believe we didn't own a dvd player prior to this one!

We've decided to swap it for a recordable one as we never could work the flaming video recorder anyway. We're on a limited budget, but managed to bag a Canon camcorder from Boots really cheap, it's charging up at the mo, no idea how to use that yet but my question is, can anyone suggest a good, really cheap dvd recorder with features we might need to play our camcorder recordings on? It's a mini dv camcorder, whether that means anything (haven't bought any mini dvs yet for it, only came this morn) I really don't know.

I had a short space of time recently when I understood these things (after our daughter started sleeping mostly through and I got some sleep, but before I got pregnant again, which is approx 3 days of having a working mind), but now I just look at words to do with gadgets and think 'ohmygodohmygod' rather than reading then properly

I missed out on the Tesco Samsung dvd recorder offer by half an hour (d'oh!), but if anyone can help me in my hour of need, I would be eternally grateful. Thanking you so much in advance, I promise I will try and understand any jargon but simple terms would be very much appreciated, lol!

I dont really know of any budget recorders I am sure somone else will be able to tell you one to get.

But what you will HAVE to do is to make sure that the camera and dvd recorder will both play/record in the same types of disks.

    there are two different ones:
    +r
    -r
It should say clearly in the manuals what they will use under the chapter of disks.
There is no real differance between the two but just make sure they are the same so there is no problem with compatablity.
