that's just not in my nature. I know it's probably not good for me, but I have committments and they are just not the sort of thing I can step away from for a while.0

hi.I get this A LOT and my OH gets a terrible blasting a lot of the time for absolutely no reason!I find that if i sit down and make a list of all the things i'm dissatisfied with, and then try to find one thing i can do that will make me feel a little better about each of them - not necessarily solve them, but a step in the right direction, then i always feel much better. Take my debt for instance. (I wish someone would!) - As soon as I'd totted it all up here in my signature, I felt so much better, simply because I knew what I was facing and how to tackle it. Fine, it'll take me years probably, but I now feel i have more control over my life and that stops me feeling quite so helpless and unhappy. It works with all sorts of problems too work, relationships, self esteem, body image - you name it!Official Debt Free Wannabe Nerd Club member 095! Debt Now:

But there must be SOMETHING you can step away from for a while, even if its just one of the household chores you can toss over to your practical OH.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

it's wonderful to do things for other people. can be very rewarding. however, i think of a person as a vessel which becomes slightly less than full when you give of yourself to people. you therefore need to do things to replenish yourself, 'fill yourself up', so that you can be there to give of yourself even more. Me, i would prefer to be full right up all the time so i have more of myself to give people.
so what should be in your nature is taking care of the person who can give their all to the committments they have made.
do you think your sudden onset of depression could also be medical? if you feel this way for much longer you should contact your gp. there may be a couple things you can do to curb that type of feeling.

Hi,
poor you - sounds like you need a massive hug! I do hope you're feeling better and that you manage to have a nice relax tonight, perhaps with a bath, wine etc
I have felt EXACTLY like that at times, with nothing particular bringing me down, just a cumulation of things - it's hard as then you feel more helpless...
big hugs.....

Aww I understand how you feel; I've got that going on too. I did go to the loo and have a good cry, trouble is that's 2 days ago and I haven't stopped yet lol, even the cat is giving me 'for heavens sake pull yourself together' looks.
Last night my partner was watching TV and laughed, I ended up going nuts. I couldn't believe he had the nerve to laugh with all we have falling around our ears and he said 'I was just trying to cheer you up, so maybe you could snap out of it' So, if you decide on the gump walk can I come? I will bring the box of chocolates (from the storecupboard, DFW style of course).
Big hug

Apart from the non-hugging, I agree with your OH and many other posters here: shut yourself away for an evening, and concentrate on you. Don't watch telly though: too depressing (unless there's some good comedy on?), but have a bath or get a fun DVD out or something. Or (my personal favourite) start on a good book! Whatever works for you: phone a friend, whatever, but let him take the strain for an evening, if he is offering, why not??
And can't you force him into a hug, by just cuddling up to him? Or do a Dr. Evil: follow him round the room with your arms stretched out, asking for a hug: then he'll get the message (bet you can't keep a straight face doing that). Drag his arms around you, whatever it takes: get your hug, you deserve it! Go, girl!0 -
Feeling the same myself at the moment, so much has happened in the last couple of weeks and i just feel as if i am drowning or walking in a dreamlike state. I have a long list of things to do but just can't find the energy to do it and it doesn't help that i am unwell at the moment.
But as everyone says sometimes all it takes to start you feeling a bit better is a good cry and some you time, even just 10 minutes can help. Ask for a hug rather than expect one if he is not that way. Scream, kick, have a tantrum if it helps but just let it all out.
Personally the only thing that has stopped me going out and treating myself is that i have a goal in mind and i have been thinking about that, still feel awful and very down but that goal is helping to keep me in line.
It will get better and we are all here for you with virtual hugs.Success means having to worry about every thing in the world......EXCEPT MONEY. Johnny Cash
