Hello all,
have been reading here a few days now plucking up the courage.
I currently have the following -
Loan - 14000 approx
Capital one card - £3500
Lloyds - £7500
Currently paying out £565 per month. Paying only minimum payments on credit cards and £320 on loan which has 4 years left to run.
My partner knows i am in debt but not the true amount he would be so angry, even though the debt was run up b4 we were together.
I have never missed any monthly payments and was given a mortgage about 18-months back but think my credit score will be low due to the volume of debt.
I am thinking of getting a loan over a longer period to pay off any one get any advice?
Thanks for listening

Hi there
Welcome
I wouldnt suggest a loan over a longer period of time, wilkl cost you more and last way longer, I reckon some lower interest credit cards might be your best bet?
POst up an SOA ( see southern scousers first time posters) and lets see what we can do to help you find extra money to snowball off your debts:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Can you overpay at all, even £5 a month makes a difference in the long run.Barclaycard 3800
Nothing to do but hibernate till spring

you have to come clean to your partner. he may be angry but keeping something stressful like this to yourself isn't good for your health. I know because today is the first time i admitted to myself how bad thigns are for me, my mum (my best friend) knows damn near everythign about me, but not how much debt i'm in.
debt is a horrible thing to deal with, as everyone on this site will tell you, but share the burden and it becomes a little easier, if not lesser. who knows he may be able to help in some way.

Thank you for your replys.
I know i need to tell my partner, am at end of teather now, sometimes even avoid spending time with him incase he brings up money incase i tri[ myself up in some way.
Am just so dissapointed in myself and think he will feel that way too.
Have been thinking of getting come extra work so will hopefully be able to pay more off on my cards, once my loan has gone (seems a long way off) should be able to put all of that towards paying it.
They are not on 0% at the moment as too scared to apply for anything as think mt debt too high compared to my wages of £18k pa
thanks again0 -
Hi and welcome ... im new also so dont have alot of advice at the moment apart from with your partner Ive been with my partner for 5 years and the debt i have is from when i was married and then single .... My partner now is so logical and pays everything on time etc and hates debts . so you can imagine my panic about telling him about mine ... i couldnt hide it any longer i just told him one night ... and he turned round and said why didnt you just tell me! if id have known i could have helped but if you dont talk to me how can i help you .
all im saying is bite the bullet and talk to him and if he is understanding and he loves you then he will listen and then you can handle it together .... worrying it about it on your own makes for sleepless nights jumping when the phone rings and dreading the postman (it did for me anyway) ... sorry to have rambled on but i do hth xxxxHoping to be a thinner me in 2010!0 -

i don't see a prob in trying to get other cards, i make half what you do and they seem to throw them at me, so as long as your sensible, transfer balance, don't use card etc, the worst they can do is say no. btu near enough every card company out there seems to be doing 0% deals, so there is no end of ones to apply to, iirc they have different ways of scoring, some say no to me others yes.0 -
Hi Tigger
As Lynz suggested, post details your income and expenditure and the people here can see how you can make savings. It's amazing how getting better deals on your utilities, spending less on shopping and getting rid of unwanted direct debits for gym's no longer used all adds up!

Hi Sorry to ask, which card companies did you use for 0%?, i have a capital one and lloyds one at moment. My debts are prop about £25k at present so recon that means my rating will be very poor
Thanks0 -
the cards i have at mo are with bos 0% for a year from opening. which for me means march 07. and a sky card 0% til jan 07.
i've previously had egg cards, virign, tesco...all of which have done some kind of 0% deal. an internet search should help. the tesco virgin and egg are all online applications which obviously speeds things up.
good luck!0
