Problem with husband's debt...

PitlanePiglet - has your friends husband spoken to Natwest yet? Do not delay this. The sooner he talks to them the easier it will be. I used to work for a bank and providing people contacted us BEFORE missing a payment, we could help mcuh more. It didnt affect their credit rating and providing the offer made was stuck to everything was fine. I strongly urge you to get them to call ASAP0

From past experience, NatWest (possibly any institution?) will go for the softest target on a debt i.e. if one is working/earning on a joint endebtedness then that's the party they will chase for settlement.
Empathise with your friend. Was once in a similar situation where the OH didn't care diddly squat about getting into debt but I was left to resolve it. At the end of the day only your friend will know if the relationship is worth all the problem-solving......
Good luck to your friend.Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

If the husband is the sole signatory on the loan then it is his sole responsibility. The bank cannot chase the wife for the money. I have a feeling the CCCS didn't get the facts straight and took it as a joint loan, I can see how that may have presented itself.
As far as the joint CC I would cancel the second card, if the OH !!!!ed money up a wall before there could be a point where purchases based on depression become an emergency and the cc debt spirals.
Contact the bank and take it from there.
Also if the OH was self employeed then he must have some skills to use one way or another.
I know I will get jumped on here but if you have no childern to look after, aren't sick or injured then it is always possible to find a job even if it is delivering the local free press for £10 a week. It just depends on whether you let your pride over ride your needs.New PV club member. 3.99kW system. Solar Edge with 14 x 285W JA Solar panels. 55° West from south and 35° pitch.0
