Sainsburys have 'Fakeleys' (as we call it) on offer for £9 a litre at the moment. (spotted at Exeter Guildhall)

  • Sainsburys is doing a cheap 'fake' Baileys at the moment.

I can't remember exactly how much for, but they were giving it the hard sell all around the store and with a big entrance display.

    Go check it out

Weird, but I hate Whisky and coffee but love Baileys! My old dad loves the Aldi copy. It's ok ish but you cant beat the real thing!
Shockingly high in calories by the way, so a Christmas tipple for me.

I tested my GF on none branded items from Lidl!

She is a stickler for the "real thing" Like Kellogs cornflakes" has to be Kellogs.

I swapped the kellogs with Lidls own "Crownfield" cornflakes. Did she notice...nah!

Did the same with Baileys, did a taste test against Lidl's, and although she identified which was Baileys, she said they were as good as each other.

Lidl's doesn't smell as creamy and I think is slightly sweeter, but for the difference in price - no contest.

I'm always swapping things over - and yes it totally winds her up but she never notices the difference!
Proves to a certain extent the brand thing is much in the mind and good marketing rather than better product.
