I'm still waiting for the 70% drops that you predicted - how long does still in progress last for? :EasterBun

A year ago I suggested that a house price correction in the region of 70% might be on the cards. People's reaction to this was ridicule and contempt. With each passing month however, more and more people have been joining the 70% club.

Whilst this is not particularly welcome for home owners, (and a catastrophy for heavily leveraged BTLs) it is good news for the country. High house prices have been socially divisive and damaged the long term stability of our economy.

  • It's difficult to say whether the bulls or bears are right whilst we are still in the middle of it. It will only become clear what the final score was in 10 or so years.

The bulls think it's all over, whilst the bears think this is a pause before another cycle down. Neither side can claim victory because the future hasn't happend yet.

stuart from hants, what brought you to this forum?

bulls and bears don't exist, some may see it's a battle to claim victory but it's not, it's just an internet forum!!

I came here because I’m interested in what’s going on in the world around me, to seek out other people’s opinions. I read here and at HPC, I’ve started coming here to try and get a more ‘balanced’ view.
Victory was probably a poor choice of words, but there is an intellectual battle between the posters who would be classified as bullish and those that are bearish. Both sides can come up with evidence and good arguments supporting their views but only in time will we really know who was right.
  • Macaque's amazing broken record

    Fixed that for you.:D

Correctly picked 27% off peak would likely beat the HPC. (in progress but looking more likeley especialy if you include mortgage payments)
Correctly picked a lifetime tracker .49 above base in sept 08
Correctly predicted it was nothing spectaular to do, it was just reacting to the market.

Correctly predicted that some of the more "offensive" bears would go nuts at the owners of the site and everyone else and get them selves banned. Then creating more moderate sockpupets.

Correctly predicted that the only winners will be shown in X years time not now.;)
  • I correctly predicted I'd arrive in York at 8.45 this eve after leaving Leeds at 8.20. I MUST be psychic.
