The Book Depository are offering over 11000 free eBooks to download in pdf format.
seems like quite an interesting and varied selection to choose from, I haven't had time to go through them properly yet though.

Thanks so much for this. My son is an avid reader and wants one of those e-reader things for Christmas. I was concerned about the cost of buying books to put on it, but this little lot should keep him occupied for a while!0

there is also http://gutenberg.net.au/greatest-books-a.html and http://www.gutenberg.org/wiki/Main_Page as well. hopefully these will help!... and whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should ...0

It looks like the free books are out of copyright. Some good classics there though!Hoping this year is better than the last.

There are many websites where you can download ebooks for free with a copyright like ebooks.com, makeuseof.com0
