    Hi everyone,
Peetzil here, sorry have been off the radar for ages, but have still been reading posts. My situation has gone from bad to worse, still to update sig with totals, but need to get accurate balances first. I feel as if i've totally lost my grip on the debts and am feeling really down in the dumps about it. I have still been paying back, but have also added quite a bit due to various (necessary & some not so necessary) outlays. I'm not sure if I'll ever get on top of things. Thing is i don't smoke, drink or go out a lot, but I guess where I fall down is buying for the kids, and doing stuff around the house. Anyway thats my big moan for the day over, now have to get the cc out and see what the actual picture is :( will update sig later if I can face it....
    CC 1 Halifax £4350(4.9%)
    CC 2 MBNA £6260 (5.4%)
    CC 3 Barclaycard 8500(0%)
    CC 4 Tesco £2500
    O/D £3000:eek:

    Peetzil - Big hugs!

Everyone has down days, but just try to think of the payments that you have made and the difference that has made. You could be in a very different situation had you not at least started to pay debts off.

Anything we can do to help you feel in control again? xx
Wandered away from the MSE track for a while but am back and on a mission! Debts cleared nearly £18k. Now to start saving ...

Oops - accidentally paid £200 to the wrong Barclaycard a couple of days ago, forgetting that I have a DD set up to pay the right one! Think I got overexcited because it's the last payment to be made on that card as I've transferred the rest of the balance to HSBC.

Oh well, going to adjust my Virgin payment from £400 to £200 this month to account for the mistake.

So payment update is £270 to Barclaycard2.

Also £200 to in-laws made on Monday.

    Hi all,

Sorry just to post my totals and run!

Added £300 to savings for July- I'm really not doing as well as hoped but life and other payments get in the way. (ie huge charges on my phone for 6 days abroad taking me well over £100 on my phone bill:mad: )

My circs will be changing in the next few months so am trying to save as much as possible from the next two months pay.

£300 in July taking my total to £4320 :)

Good luck to all- keep going. Also well done to those (museumworker?) who have reached targets already! :T

I'm lapsing.. badly I think. I just went and had a shopping spree today. A couple of hundred quid was spent on stuff I probably could have done without but felt I deserved it after some tough exams that finished yesterday. On top of that I have just been drinking/eating out since the exams finished... I am watching TV but feeling quite awful about it all. Guilt I think it's called. Anyway, does anyone know any other ways of earning money. I used to do the scratchcards but then got an e-mail from Virgin telling me not to be so cheeky as I wasn't spending any of my money, just taking theirs. I will happily consider any other jobs going. Is there a job that you do from home answering people's questions or have I just made that up?? I am going to try and get some extra shifts at work as well. I just really want to get my debt paid off this year but not sure how likely that is considering the amount I have left to pay off.

Sorry to hear the exams were tough, but good that they are out of the way. Can you take the stuff back tomorrow? You do deserve something special - to be debt free. Hold on in there.

Regarding income, take a look at surveys, focus groups, etc - there should be more help in up your income. If you've finished your exams, can you get a job in the summer?

Thanks museum worker.. yes, I am going to return the stuff on Monday. Not sure if I could face the crowds today. I am looking for extra work in the summer and have already sent off application forms, CRB checks but they take forever to come back but we'll see.

I think part of the problem is that at exam time, my moneysaving falls by the wayside and I think to myself, what is more important - medical exams or saving money - ie do I waste time making a packed lunch or should I spend a couple of pounds and use that time revising. I always go for the latter. Multiply that by meals for about a month and I have just gone and spent a small fortune. I always do this at exam time. AAAaaaaaggggghhh:mad::mad:

Really, exam time should be the best time to save money for me as often I feel really guilty about doing anything else that i don't really go out but doesn't quite work out like that lol!! Anyway, think I just needed to rant so thank-you.

I was the same during my masters, I spent oodles on lunches etc - whatever got me through the day and made life a bit easier! But it did make me feel a bit queasy thinking about how quickly my money went, and I did end up totally skint and in debt at the end of it.

I've had quite a few CRB checks in my time, as they are usually required in the museum sector. Usually take a few weeks, a bit less than you think. Hope the job applications go well, and good luck for returning things on Monday.

    Rant away!

    Hi everyone,

When I joined this challenge, I calculated that I would be paying approx £5,000-£6,000 to debts this year and I was finding that a struggle.

I've just updated my spreadsheet and so far this year I've reduced my debt by £7,160.06. I'm amazed! I've enjoyed following this thread daily. Thanks to everyone who's posted here, it's really kept me motivated.

I'm off to spend the day looking for more things to ebay, every penny counts.

    Liz.
