I think I've just been scammed :(
I don't know if this is in the right bit but I think I may have been scammed by the credit people. I applied for a loan with them last week and they promised to have the money in my account by today (monday), needless to say it hasn't appeared and I've just read some testimonials on the forum. I'm a bit worried now as the money was for a car that my friend paid for so that I could continue getting to work. I now need to pay her back but am worried about applying for a loan with anyone else in case I get scammed again. Does anyone have any advice (other than don't borrow money off friends lol)

being desperate I paid them the £45 admin fee on the 30/10/2009.
I am still waiting for the payment that was promised in my bank 'within 3 days'! apparently you have no chance of getting your money back unless you've been 'refused'. Help! when you try to contact therm you wait for ages. You can't speak to a 'legal team' as they don't take calls? and the customer care team are rude, ill trained and dis interested. Any ideas on how to get this lot closed down so others don't fall victim? Thanks

Yeah I paid a £49 admin fee but I paid it with my credit card so hopefully I can claim it back off them. I've also written to the consumer direct people and I think I can cancel the "loan" as I think I'm legally entitled to a cooling off period of 14 days so I'm going to try and get the money back that way too. Anyone know if I'm right?0

If they do not provide the service you paid for then yes they have to refund you.
The grey area is when they come back to you with an offer of a lower amount than you need.
Persist with claiming back the fees - they can keep £5 I think.0 -
Thanks for that Jones, I will keep trying and maybe this will serve as a life lesson not to hand any money over til I'm totally sure what I'm getting.0

This only applies between £100 and £30,000. You cannot claim sums lower than £100 back from your credit card company.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0 -
Oh ok good to know, but I also got advice from consumer direct and I should be able to get my money back anyway which is good to know.0
