Conservatives will replace the 'New Deal' scheme

According to this news article (http://www.personneltoday.com/articles/2009/10/05/52409/conservatives-set-to-scrap-the-new-deal-and-train-to-gain.html), the Conservatives will replace the 'New Deal/Flexible New Deal' scheme, and substitute it with another scheme called 'Get Britain Working', if they win the general election.

What do you think of this? Do you think it will be better than 'New Deal/Flexible New Deal'?

I want to know how this scheme will work, but can't find any information about it.

There are a lot of news articles (including one on the Conservatives website) about this issue.

    i am also curious.
the liklihood is that it will also be a waste of time just like the current scheme is. i believe people will spend more time doing community work than anything else. so basically being out of work is a bigger crime than stealing a car or mugging someone.

Any system that genuinely encourages and helps people back to work; stops rewarding people for having very large families and expecting benefits to pay for them and stops people from inventing illnesses in order to claim benefits will get my vote.

of course until you end up on it yourself. is that fair to say?
the reason i said what i said in my previous post was if you commit one of those crimes mentioned your punishment maybe something like 100 hours community service. if you are out of work and not one of the layabouts you still get lumped with them. you will have to do 40 hours a week community service. is that right that a person out of work through no fault of their own should face something that is alot more severe than that what a mugger gets sentenced to?

what would do a lot better is for the or any government to put more money into training or re-training as for the moment there is very little available. There is also this issue that job center should be a bit more proactive in helping people to look for job.

another quickly attempted and empty policy to attract voters !

Jobcentres are allocated 5 mins each person once a fortnight, how are we supposed to spend time finding people work?
Our job is to ensure you have done enough to satisfy the legal requirements for claiming JSA which we can just about satisfy during that 5 mins.

I'm just starting to think the same (just finished my training for FJRs) and it seems that indeed all that you're told to do is make sure the tax payer's money is protected. However, there are advisors there that you can refer to who have 20 mins with each customer so perhaps the JCP can help give a helping hand to people? Not many bother though from my own experiences being on JSA.

Well i did see that 2 years ago when i was made redundant and this is where the government should place their policy , giving extra time to job centre adviser towards each jobseeker .. each government stay very quiet on this for one good reason only ....

people can have extra time but is still not classed as an advisers job to assist with jobsearch, if people need help we are to refer them to providers for help with this.

Self help for the first 6 mnths, then stage 3 for 6 months but again every one is only given 3 hours spread over 26 weeks.

We currently work 8 till 8 3 nights a week and this doesn't give us time to see everyone. Have you not seen other forums where people moan when they are called into extra or even mandatory interviews, offered weekly signing slots or back to work sessions? People who want help are very few and far between.

    Thanks for the elaboration. :)
Just hope that the Tories (if they do get in power) don't make it worse for everyone.
