I think i've had incorrect advice

or at least misunderstood which is probably what has happened.
When I called national debtline all those dark and tearful months ago I was told that if we went br I wouldn't be able to own my own business.
I was a childminder and registered as self employed. She asked me about my business, whether I was the boss or the director. Well I answered yes because it was my business I guess. I took it as meaning I couldn't have my own business in BR.
I've searched on the forums and found many people still working as self employed while undischarged bankrupt. Can I begin work as a childminder again as undischarged? I'm so very confused, the penny has dropped that I might have resigned as a childminder for nothing and that I could still be registered and working and contibuting. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I worked so hard to gain a fantastic Ofsted report, I was seen as bloomin' good at what I was doing and now I feel sick that i've let it all go over a misunderstanding. Am I right, can I still work as a childminder?
I suppose it doesn't matter in the long run, I'd have to set the ball rolling again now and that took 9 months to complete last time, the same amount of time I have left till AD.
Any advice would be fab, thanks

Miche, you as a childminder can still work as you're a sole trader working on a self employed basis.
The business part of restrictions refers to ltd companies and directorship which as a bankrupteenie you can't do.
So, although you are running a childcare business as it were you are self employed so no worries whatsoever.
Jumping through the hoops for Ofsted and the EYFS was not in vain. :jThere used to be a street named after Chuck Norris, but it was changed because nobody crosses Chuck Norris and lives.0 -
As far as I'm aware Miche you can still work self-employed if you are registered as a sole trader.
would it not just be a case of renewing your ofstead registration or do you have to go through the whole process all over again?
Best of luck with it all!

If you did not notify Ofsted that you wished to 'de' register then it will simply be a case of informing them that you have moved which will trigger an inspection of your new home. The rules are that you cannot mind until the certificate has been amended to reflect the current address so if you have filled a vacancy it's best to contact them asap to get the ball rolling.
They will email you a document to complete and you will need do provide evidence of carrying out a risk assessment for the new setting.
But you can definately carry on as a self employed trader with no difference to the way you did this before BR.There used to be a street named after Chuck Norris, but it was changed because nobody crosses Chuck Norris and lives.0 -
I love the EYFS you know, I know it has it's knockers (PHIL!) but it's super in my eyes!
I resigned with Ofsted so I fear it might be a 'start all over again' process'. I'll email children's services and Ofsted straight away, oooooooh thank you, I'm excited again. What a mess! I could really kick myself for being so dim!!0 -
With all the considerations that arise from BR it's easy to misunderstand things when you are taking in so much information.
I have reservations about the EYFS as well as also thinking it can be a positive thing at the same time.
I see it from both sides, from a practitioners point of view and the service user ie the child.
But that's a different thread entirely:rolleyes:There used to be a street named after Chuck Norris, but it was changed because nobody crosses Chuck Norris and lives.0
