Okay, after many attempts of trying to be good with money, I have finally given myself the kick where I'm needed. I've decided that instead of going into panic, I'm going to do something about it. I particularly need to find £1k (I owe a friend) pretty sharpish, so that is added motivation.
Anyway, here goes.
Today (23/05):
Positives
* Made packed lunch - saving
* Remembered that I have receipts for £3.80 at work that I can claim on expenses, so sorted that.
* No spends at lunch time.
* Have made a list of some stuff that I can sell on ebay and will have another rummage this evening. Some stuff needs washing/ironing so will post tomorrow (need clothes at best for pix)
Negatives
* Had to fill car with petrol - £20
This morning before I left for work, I emptied my purse of all my cash (which was in change) put the 5ps and coppers in my jar (which I should empty and bank soon) and the rest of the cash in my other money box, so I literally had no money on me today only my cards and so I knew that if I wanted to buy something I would have to go to the bank - which put me off. I know it is only a teeny tiny step today, but I do feel really good and positive. I went 'window' shopping with my friend at lunch and although I did see some nice stuff, wasn't interested as I knew I couldn't afford it. I actually feel a bit sick now at spending money because I'm quite disgusted with myself for getting into such a mess.
Anyway, that is it so far...phase 1 complete!! I am hoping to keep this thread regularly updated so you and I can see how I'm doing. My plan for tomorrow is to contact some places in the area for weekend work...will let you know how I get on.
Keep all the advice coming, I think that is going to be my security blanket for the forseeable future!!!
Thanks
