Am OK and was quite gutted when it only went for £200 - bear in mind that it cost well over £1000...then this mroning could have gone into orbit when I got the confirmation re payment TO AN UNCONFIRMED ADDRESS...DO PEOPLE NOT READ!!!!! (Yes shouting & really hacked off as this was why I refunded the last guy & could NOT have been clearer about having confirmed address in the postage and listing details) Anyway have emailed them and said they either have to pay the £10 insurance for royal mail or confirm their paypal address & that I am not sending to an unconfirmed address..

Grip girl, grip like a VAT man on a £20 note! You're getting there, and you can obviously live without the MP3 player. You're doing really well, and we're all proud of you. This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

Forgive me sisters for I have (DFW style) sinned! Actually I dont deserve forgivenesss & I'm sure the die hards "recycle your teabags" types wil be absolutely disgusted with me but what can I say...I got an absolute bargain! I was good & worked out my money & assessed that while £100 over budget (mainly due to London) am also £750 up due to selling lots of stuff, getting refunds etc...I have satisfied my shopping need and got me a new TV...sorry if that offends some.
I feel at this point, seeing as its my diary and having read other threads that I should be clear where I stand on things like this...the way I see it is this; over the last 3 months I have changed beyond all recognition; I've paid off loads of debt; cut down on ALL my daily expenses (although had a bad week this week) and will continue to do so. I'll NEVER go back to what I was before - ie yes I got a TV but its affordable (despite this & other additional expenses still 400+ to pay off debts, in addition to what I pay anyway!) and I find it bizarre that I feel like I have to justify myself for doing so!! I love my new TV (the other was old, kept turning off, covered in wax & minus silver cos I tried to remove the wax - it left the wax but took the silver off!!) and it was a huge bargain...I hunted for hours for the best deal and I think £125 for a 24" flat screen phillips TV is pretty good going myself.
For those of you reading this tutting, thinking "does she want to be a DFW" the answer is absolutely yes I do BUT there are things in my life that I am not prepared to do without and while I can pay for them wont do without them; if that means that I am debt free a bit later or have to work a bit harder on 2nd job then so be it!!
Sorry this has turned into a bit of a rant but I' a bit wound up after comments made on another thread & cant belive how sanctimonious (is that spelt right!) some people can be...I'm sorry but I just cant reuse tampax, teabags etc...just not me & seeing that I am generally doing so well feel actually quite upset & angry that I know some people will be sitting there tutting at me...it takes the enjoyment out of something that I've worked hard for the last month (not for TV but all the ebaying to get that extra money)...sorry I'll shut up now & watch my (beautiful) tv...
PS..obvously NO MP3 player now...I'm not that bad!!!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0 -
I think it ws a great thing. It's not on credit, like you said you've worked hard for it, and you've balanced the 'debt free earlier or tv' thing, and to you the tv won. I think we sometimes get into the habit of thinking this DFW malarkey is a race, its not. It's balancing not owing people money with living well on a little while we do it. If you want to take a rest stop on the way you should do so, its your life. Just don't buy any hideously overpriced, soggy sandwwiches while you're there!
I had my night out in Grimsby, you have your TV, and I bet other people haven't lived like hermits since their LBM - sackcloth gives you a rash anyways.
I bet you're enjoying your new purchase much more than if you'd bobbed it on a card, so its like a reminder of what you're aiming for - to be able to buy stuff without getting it on credit. I don;t think you did wrong. Remember what Martin said on Loose Women once - one of the girls expected to be slated for buying a hideously expensive designer dress, but he said that a) she couldn't have got it cheaper b) she needed it (it was for an awards show she was presenting) and c) had budgeted for it, so it wasn't the hanging offense people thought it would be.This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

Thank you, you're a sweetie! Just how I feel but just annoyed me (in case you couldnt tell!) that some of the joy was taken out of it!! Still trying to suss out how to work it mind you & somehow have to suss out how to get the other one to the tip without ruining my back (neighbor was nabbed to bring the new one in!!)...will go down stairs on me bum!! (live in 1st floor flat!!) It is gorgeous though and so nice that it doesent keep turning off!! Poor manu cat also had to have tooth removed & has stitches! v. unhapy puss cat she is but sleeping as still a bit groggy from being knocked out!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! fishface, please don't let other people spoil your enjoyment, otherwise it really WILL have been a waste of money.
in the past you'd probably have bought a 42" plasma at 3k (     sorry, for that price I'd want them acting in my front room, not watching them on the box!!!!!), on a credit card & ended up paying nearer 5k for it. You've bought this from your v hard earned additional earnings and as uyou don't go out gallivanting I think it's the least you deserve. And it sounds like a bargain too, which should add to your enjoyment!
A big pllllluuuuuuurrrrrgggghhhh (don't know how to spell raspberry noice!) to anyone who thinks otherwise.
And I'm sure it will be even better when you've workd out how to switch it on.....:p
hope puss is ok xA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Well I for one am not going to criticise you. It's been said many a time on this board that you need to be happy and approach being a DFW your way otherwise it just won't work. To carry on from what Obi has said, sackcloth and ashes may work for some, but certainly not for others. I personally don't see the point in making yourself so miserable in this quest that you lose your grip on other areas of your life - what is then the point of becoming DF?!
The real achievement here is that you considered what you were about to buy, made sure it wasn't bought with credit and you still know where you are in your budget to keep a rein on things this month. Bet ya it wouldn't have been like that four months ago?
You enjoy your TV love, if it helps keep you sane, then you enjoy it.;)
P.S. I can't get my head round some of the suggestions about "womens products" either, ewwwwwww.Debt Free Nerd No. 89, LBM: April 2006, Debt at highest (Sept 05): £40,939.96

hehe!! By the way I did use my credit card but will pay the full balance off...that way I got a months free interest, the cash is in my savings account and I got cashback for using the CC! Won all round but panic not I WILL pay it back when the statement comes - unlike before when I would have just thought "oh well next month"...Thank you for all your encouragement...being DFW is hard enough and I really only realised yesterday how oppressive the comments of others on here can be...ie people ? whether you want to be DFW because you buy something/have sky etc (I have both - flog me now!!) ...my debt will take years to pay off and there is no way I could live life that!! TV is essential and while sad for others is a lifeline for me and seeing that I rarely go out to pubs, days out etc (will be even less so now that I'll start this other work) dont see why its such a problem. Will just have to agree to disagree! Ali I would NEVER have spent that on a TV, even in my worst splurge days!! Todays task my girls is to bake muffins! Since my debt free journey its been that & bread...why I have NO idea!I also have to take the vast tv box & old tv to the tip (seats back down again!) & hoover...cats are moulting like mad!! Had a look at Manu's tooth & poor love has stitches all round it (its the big fang at the front - or rather was!) but she seems quite happy! Have a good day all!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0
