Well a mixed day!! Did my filing (came accross loan which just reminded me how stupid I've been!!) & sorted house so tidier & generally always makes me feel better! Got some fishes so tank ( a biorb) looking happier - looked v. odd empty! Did Tesco shop & all thats left now is some paperwork & the dreaded ironing! Going to have a quietish day tomorrow & get some done & try & have a no spender (havent had one for a while) ...must start my spending diary from this month - things def slip when I dont & prob the main thing that keeps me on track. Plus its going to be an expensive month as my bros wedding. Also decided to stay with same insurer although galling because it will be 100 more but in the middle of claim so not convinced that it would be dealt with as well if I changed & on balance will hopefully even out. Just annoying that yet again I loose out! Back has been OK (thanks to yummy pain killers) & am doing my streatches whic makes a difference...Webbling Ok - not overeaten & was saved by a chocolate slice at Tesco because it had mould on it so got a refund!! Gross! Also got money back from Tesco as £4 vouchers had expired but a quick (free!) phone call later & nice man going to send me new ones!! Prooving once again that no harm asking!

Thanks bagpuss how you doing? I love bagpuss by the way - I've got a little air freshner one in my (currently being rebuilt!!) car!! What was the woodpeckers name - was it professor yaffle...where are you in SW? (sorry if you've already said!!)
Did want to ask a dilemma/question as its bothering me/upset me. I went to see a neighbor who is ill & offered to do shopping & she declined but I got the impression she did need things but didnt like to ask. Anyway upshot is she had no money so I said I was happy to get it for her & she could give me money next week (knowing I may never get it back but was more than happy to help even if I didnt - her situation is FAR worse than mine). Anyway got shopping & delivered it & as I did she asked if she could borrow £5. I know I may be being silly. I dont mind about the shopping, even if I never get the money back but felt a bit used/taken advantage of when she asked to borrow money..
? is am I being unreasonable? I said I would lend it to her (but didnt have £5 so will drop in tomorrow). Again I know I may never get this back & not that bothered about this but just felt upset/hurt that she asked...is it me?

no i don't think it is i would feel the same..i certainly never ever mind helping anyone ...but i hate the feeling that i am being taken advantage of and in a way that is exactly what she has done....you offered she declined ...you appreciate that she might just be too embarresed to accept help ..then after you have helped her she see's that as a sign of weekness and goes in for the kill starting at £5 ....but be aware it may not finish there ...hun i would feel the same ...silly q i just have to ask it's been bothering me a while how on earth do you manage to keep fish with cat's? exodia(our cat) wouldve swallowed them whole
  • Thanks Eltan...did feel taken advantage of & it upset me as felt good about helping her but tne just felt used...Re fish & cats I've got a biorb (smallish round one) which has a lid on it! Occasionally Manu (avatar cat) has a peek & tries to get in but remember cats hate water!! When I had a tortoise in a vivarium they just wouldnt leave her alone (used to get home to find them tryong to swipe thorugh the grill on the top!!) so she's been adopted (but I have regular contact!!) & is now thriving! Would love to have a rabbit.....!! Ok so possibly with 4 cats, fish & only a spacious 1 bed flat I MAY have enough?!!

Hi all...just thought I'd update re neighbor/money. Went to see her with the £5 and we had a good chat about it. She said she felt it was a bit cheeky after I'd just done the shopping but she just didnt know wh else to ask. I explained that I justfelt a bit uncomfortable lending money but also realised that she was really struggling. Said that I've been hurt/burned in the past & dont mind helping out with shopping etec but lending money makes me feel awkward & not worth falling out over if people avoid you when they dont pay you back...She understood, I emphasised & thats that. Poor love is having a really hard time & just about to have chemo/radiotherapy tomorrow & is obviously scared & has little support...I realise what I'm getting into but cannot in good conscience not help. Also made me realise that I've been quite selfish/insular lately - not so much money wise but in terms of my time & helping other people. Just cos I'm skint doesnt mean I cant help in other ways. May also aleviate boredom & replace the shopping feel good feeling.
Backs been killing me so on big pain killers. One fab thing was I tried some "therapy" this am. When I get the "urge" to shop I go & look round at the things I want & dont need, argue with myself & remind myself about debt etc. While some will think this is dangerous (it is in initial stages!) it actually works for me! Managed to go all round pet worls & not buy the chipmunk that gave me that "take me home" look (if only I had the same sucess with men eh!!), cockateel, hampster (reminded myself that I actually dont like hamsters!!) & chinchilla (V cute & same col as manu cat!)....the went to Asda & resisted duvet that was "only £15" & I'd wanted for ages!! Yahoo!! I'm really proud of myself! Also managed to plan so I finished by lunch time & instead of eating out came home & ate!! OK so dont always do as well but the urge was strong today so really pleased that I did it! Now going to do my take a break homework!

    Hey FF!

Really sorry to hear about your accident - that totally sucks. A colleague of mine had bad whiplash in her shoulder from a car accident, and she spent weeks have phsio, to no avail (she thought it made it worse!). She then had acupunture, and the pain went away in just a few sessions. I've never tried it myself, but she swears by it now - and she's not a person that's particularly into alternative therapies.

    Hope you're doing ok otherwise...
