Best to buy the microwave in Argos next time, then at least you wont be tempted by the food. My hubbys watch fell apart last week so had to get him a new one today. (£14.95) I also went to sainsburys as needed envelopes and cranberry juice for waterworks but (halo above head) i was strong and the bill came to £2.54. Had son with me who said nothing as last week I resisted him when he asked for sweets/budweiser/cakes so he is beginning to learn that i wont be swayed.

Ah, this happens to me all the ruddy time - it's like you go crazy for a little while cos you think you have money and you won't allow logic to cloud the fun!

Don't worry about it, what's done is done and you have done well previously so don't beat yourself up over this one little c**k up. Just look forward to July when you can reduce the overdraft by £100.

Thank you everyone for your comments and I'm glad we're not the only ones that do this.

Thank goodness for online grocery shopping I say!!! The £4.49 delivery charge is so worth it! It not only covers our bus fares, but takes the temptation away.

I understand about the guilt thing - I just can't resist my little girl looking at me with big eyes and a packet of Winnie the Pooh biscuits in her hands!

Oh well - my overdraft reduction has been held back for a month or so. I've got over it now, I think it was the panic of actually going to a shop that stocks so much stuff. I had a shock though, they're redeveloping the shop and extending the food and home sections.

It's not that I don't understand (I do :o ) But can you not make sure you don't spend the £30 you get from landlady and reduce the overdraft by £60 this month? It would mean that you hadn't 'blown' it completely.

Problem is that I'm sure that my bank will only reduce my overdraft in 100s! Perhaps, I'll just work my budgeting to the £600 overdraft next month and not actually reduce it with the bank.

i'm trying to reduce mine too, and want to keep it below £600.I'm currently on £577 and I've got to make it till next Tuesday..hopefully nothing of mine will blow up in the meantime! I'm not actually reducing my overdraft with the bank till it gets to £500 , just setting myself a 'personal' limit.

Best of luck to you. My pay day is next Wednesday - so fingers crossed I get there without anything else blowing up!
