Debate House Prices

Economy and Recession Bingo

Tick off each cliche, phrase or happening as you read it on this forum and win £3.00 in WHSmith vouchers courtesy of MSE Natasha when you've got them all:
  • Anything about a 'V', 'W' or 'L' shaped recession.
  • "There are no fundementals behind this rise / rally / growth"
  • Something about a winter of discontent or a harsh winter.
  • Any phrase involving bubbles and hot air.
  • "Month on month is just noise."
  • "Unemployment is a lagging indicator."
  • "Wait and see what effect unemployment will have over the coming years"
  • Any mention of 3x lending.
  • A post from Brit1234 with red writing in font size 36+
  • "They're not building any more land"
  • Calling Gordon Brown, 'Clown'.
  • Anything based around a change when the Conservatives coming in to power. This could be tax hikes, spending cuts or interest rate rises.
  • The phrase 'renting classes'.
  • A comparison of the UK economy to Zimbabwe or Japan. Score double points for both being mentioned in one post.
  • The phrase 'bull trap'.
  • Any joke made by a bear about living in a cave and / or sh*tting in the woods.
  • A comment about Sarah Beeney's breasts.
  • Any post that contains all of the following words: "BTL", "slum-landord" and "scum".
  • The phrase "inflation is theft". No points will be given if this phrase is then explained in any satisfying way. The magic is lost then.
  • Any type of smut or innuendo from FC123, lostinrates or viva.
  • Any prediction that is made with complete and utter certainty. For example, "house prices will be 20% lower this time next year, mark my words" or "we have hit the bottom, the only way is up from here."
  • Any phrase around property doubling over a certain period, especially 7 or 10 years.
  • "A good property investor will look at whether the property price = rent x 100"
  • A picture / photo of a penis.
  • Anything about BTL being "dead" or a "flawed business model".
  • The phrase "bank of mum and dad". Score double if used with "not going to last for ever".
  • Score double points for any word or phrase used by Julieq that you don't understand, such as "ad hominem".
  • Anything mentioning a "50% peak to trough fall"
  • That motherf*cking graph. You know the one.
  • Any pure bull / bear debate that lasts over 5 pages. No other argument is allowed to score the point.
  • Any post with more than four or more smiley rolling heads rather than a cohesive argument: :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
  • The phrase "Sheeple".
  • Score a point everytime a regular poster posts a story about a rise / fall in house prices, then it gets merged in to an 'official thread'.
  • "TIMBER!!!"
  • "February was the bottom"
  • Any post mentioning Aberdeen.
  • Any use of the phrase "debt junkie".
  • A mention of the word "hyperinflation".
  • Get ten points for any day when Graham doesn't post.
  • Get a hundred points for any post from Hamish that isn't completely and utterley in favour or if he posts a negative story.
  • 1 point for a thread about the Wilsons, 5 points for a picture of the Wilsons, 10 points for a post mocking the dress-sense of the Wilsons, 20 points for a post pointing out that 700 terrace houses all going on sale at the same time really will saturate the local market.
  • Any post from Martin telling us off.
  • Any mention of Rightmove figures not being 'proper' figures
  • Double points for someone then pointing out that Rightmove figures were fine the last time someone used them for their agenda.
  • "Missed the boat".
  • Any four page plus debate which goes: "There is a shortage of homes". "No there isn't".
  • "Double-dip."
  • The slagging off of anyone from the following TV shows: Secret Millionaire, Location, Location, Location, A Place in The Sun, Homes Under The Hammer.
  • Any mention of Fleixstowe.
