Help - don't know what to do?

Hi - you may have read some of my previous threads about the situation wit hmy bank. I knew this would be a difficult week, but wasn't sure just how difficult. I have opened a basic bank account with another bank and am still waiting on the number etc to arrive through the post. My salary was paid into my old bank account this month and I wrote asking that instead of eating this up with fees and the overdraft could they honour my mortgage payment (due out on Thurs) etc. I have already received 2 phone calls from missed payments this morning from 2 companies and am really worried about my mortgage payment due out on Thurs - I have never missed a payment on anything. 22 years with a bank obviously counts for nothing when it comes to the crunch!! Any advice on what to say to the 2 missed payment companies and re the soon due mortgage payment would be much appreciated!!

Hi Twinkle - I'm no expert so I am bumping this up for you. If I remember you wrote them a letter saying they couldn't swallow your salary into the overdraft as it was all allocated for bills and the mortgage - was it a letter of apportion or something?
Anyway hopefully someone will be able to help you.

Thanks dancingfairy - yes I wrote to the bank last week requesting that my pay be used for my priority bills ie mortgage. My mortgage isn't due out until Thurs anyway, I phoned them and they were to return my call, but I still haven't heard from them.LBM - August 2009:eek: DMP started - Jan 2010:o

Couldn't you go in and withdraw all your cash, cancel your DD;s and pay them by cash this month?0

I wish I could Miss Poppy, but they have used my salary to pay my overdraft and left me nothing now to pay my bills! I managed to ask for my benefits to be transferred to my new bank account today, but will have to wait until next month's salary to transfer this. Any ideas on how to negotiate time to catch up with a couple of creditors after my salary going to pot?LBM - August 2009:eek: DMP started - Jan 2010:o

Hi
You could call the lending team and speak to them, they aren't allowed to keep all your wages. I had an account closed by a high street bank when they withdrew my OD. They allowed me to withdraw all my salary in cash and make a payment arrangement with them. They were actually really nice at the time.0 -
After making normal contractual payments to all my creditors, this will now be difficult as my bank used my salary to pay my overdraft. A nice lady contacted me from the banka short time agao (that makes a change) and said I could now open a separate basic bank account, although I think this news has come a bit too late as they have already eaten my pay up and I already opened a new bank account with another bank when they told me under no circumstances could I open a basic account. I'm unsure what to do, any advice would be much appreciated.LBM - August 2009:eek: DMP started - Jan 2010:o
