HELP ink from biro on daughters pink cardigan!

Options
Hi there I have just unloaded my washing machine and found that my Daughters brand new cardigan (1st wash!) has ink on the sleeve as a biro made it into the machine and was washed with the clothes:eek: luckily it was only on the cardigans sleeve. Anyway what can i use to get it out safely without ruining the cardigan?? It's 100% cotton and pink ;)

  • Neat Dettol will get many hard to treat stains out - put a pad of white cloth/tissue on the "wrong" side of the stain, and put some dettol on another cloth and dab at the stain. You'll have to wash it again to get rid of the smell.

Otherwise, Stain Devils or De Solv it work for me. Good luck
  • I remember getting ink out of something by soaking it in milk before washing - why it worked I don't know:confused:

Milk - it works!! Apparently something to do with the fat and enzymes in the milk breaking down the biro.

Just soak the sleeve in some milk for a while and then wash. It's like magic. :D

Hiya, I watched Kim & Aggie last night and they got black oil out of a mans shirt with honey & washing up liquid and a quick rub.
I know it is not biro but maybe worth a shot?
If winter comes, can spring be far behind?

they usually use hairspray on biro but it may bring out some of the colour so be careful.

  • I always use hairspray on biro and it always works. Never taken the colour out of anything yet, but doin't blame me if you haven't done a spot test first!

  • Nail polish remover works too - agree with jackie though, spot test first!

most biro will come out just with repeated washing I've found - I often get pen on me at work - clumsy- but never bother to treat the mark unless its a really bad mark & then a little stardrops works

  • I use milk for ink stains - soak the affected part for 30 mins and then wash as norma. A couple of other useful ones are - sugar and washing up liquid for paint, wd40 for oil
