First 'whoopsies' and freezer Q

I had my very first 'whoopsie' experience earlier in my local Co-op!!!

A pack of stewing steak, a pack of sausages and 2 lamb burgers for the princely total of £3.65!! :j
I'm so pleased with myself it's sad! :o

Now for the freezer question...

I've frozen this stuff raw today, and intend to cook it next week. Once cooked, is it safe to refreeze it? i.e in the form of a sausage or beef casserole for example?

I always thought that stuff shouldn't ever be frozen twice. But I'm sure I read on here somewhere (damned if I can find where!) that if something is cooked, it can then be frozen again??

Can anyone advise?

Thanks,

Helen x

Yep if raw when first frozen, then cooked can be frozen again in its cooked form.
    Do this all the time.

The Co-op do some good 'whoopsies', but it's hard to establish the best time to go for these. I'd normally think to go look last thing, but found some great chicken bargains the other week first thing on a Monday morning. Good size family size packs of chicken breasts, quarters, drumsticks, etc, all about £1.50 each. Have had packs of stewing steak & pork pieces for around a quid too.

  • Thanks Ali! I'm glad I checked!

Yeah, Foxglove, it does seem to be a bit random. I went in there late one afternoon expecting there to be something, but all there was was some dodgy looking ham 'offcuts' and a scabby looking packet of sausage rolls!

But today (at 11am on a thursday morning!) there were lots of nice bargains to be had

  • My local coop usually sell off most on a Tuesday & Thursday.

Today I got 2 pks of steak casserole for a quid each and a large pack of braising steak for 2 quid, as well as reduced tomatoes (which I'd actually gone for - even better), reduced bread there was also strawberries at a quid for a large tub (approx 450gm) but the date was tomorrow SBD and there were loads, so I will go tomorrow morning when they will be 50p and buy them then.
