Subletting may be the ideal solution, and in 6 or 12 months time when your mother is up to it emotionally, you could mention the sale of the cabin again then. It really does depend on your advice from the CAB, do let us know what they suggest please.

Your mother has no need at all to feel embarrassed about the debt situation, the CAB see it all the time and they will help her, they will not judge.
  • Guys, I want to thank you all for your advice and suggestions!

I'll make an appointement with the CAB for next week when I'm home and we'll see what they suggest.

I'll also look into the possibility of subletting the cabin and see what help that might be able to provide.

I'll hopefully update you all after the CAB meeting next week!
