My wife was booked to go into hospital for a minor op, she had already booked the day of the op & the next day as sick. She arrived at hospital on the day at 06.45 was booked in by the nurse & allocated a bed, she then saw the anaesestist(sp) the consultant & the pharmacist.
After waiting over 4 hours she was informed by the staff the op had been cancelled. As you could imagine she was disappointed about it. She then called into work & told them about it & went back to work the next day. The personnel dept have told her she would either have to make the time up or lose a day's pay.
Can they do this legally? or should she fight it, if so how
