Help Needed I'm desperate

:(:(:embarasse:cry::cry::cry::cry:can anybody help or advise me..

I got paid on the last day of august, and it is only the 5th, and i am unable to draw any money from my barclays account..

i had an authorised overdraft, and now for about 12 months, they have given me on top of that a 200.00 reserve, but everytime i go go into it, but just alittle, i'm getting charged, and all the charges are now killing me, I feel like i just can't do anything..

Luckily all my bills are paid out of a seperate account, so i need not worry about them, but i can't get fuel to get to work, or even pay for my car insurance..

Do you think they would increase my overdraft, just to stop the charges, has i'm doing everything i can to earn extra cash with surveys etc...

but i just feel at the moment what is the point..

any help or advise would be greatful, has i am at a really low point..

This is the link to fill in your statement of affairs, fill it and post it. It helps massively when trying to work out what to pay first and what you owe

This a great place, stick around, there is loads of help

  • thanks for your kind words... yes it is very scary calling the bank, i know i'm going to have to di it, just feel sick in my stomach, everythime i think about it..

i think if i was going to do it today, i think i would just burst out crying... which would probably make me sound like a blubbering wreck...
  • I think you can ditch the personal reserve as well - costs £22 a pop. Other threads on here, I'll try to find them.

  • Could you write down what you would like to say before you ring so that you can prompt yourself and check that you've covered everything while you're on the phone? I used to work for a bank and there are some very nice people there, in the end

http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=24643225&highlight=barclays+personal+reserve#post24643225 - I ditched my reserve cos I read on here how high the fees are. Its supposed to be for emergencies only rather than an overdraft. How about seeing if the bank can fix you an agreed overdraft and get rid of this Personal Reserve. You will pay a few pounds a month rather than £88.

Edit - sorry, just reread your post. You still need to ditch the Personal Reserve and see if you can increase your overdraft. If not, ask the staff member to advise you how much you will be charged to be £200 over your agreed overdraft, will be less than £88 month I'm sure.

  • Take a deep breath & call them.I know what it feels like making calls like that.Feeling lightheaded & sick, waiting on the yes or no at the other end of the phone. It's sounds like a call you'll have to make sooner or later.
Why torture yourself by putting it off?I'm the Queen of procrastinators,I should know!A good few thousand pounds of my debt is down to interest & charges that needn't have happened if I'd just taken a grip of my situation.
