Debt-free and Proud!
Hi Guys,

I hope you dont mind me starting this thread but I thought it would be a good way for me to keep track of my progress and also to keep you guys updated too :)

I recieved my second dmp statement this week and my debts have been reduced by over £800 which is amazing because before my dmp making the same payments the balance would of only gone down by approx £200 due to the amount of interest I was paying. Im really chuffed about this :j

One on my debts have been passed to a dca and the next directory are also in the process of doing the same thing. But Im ok with this as they cant have what i havent got. I just hope that this second dca are as understanding as the first one was.

Im still selling lots of goodies on ebay and what doesnt sell im keeping to one side to sell at a car boot.

Im also trying to find a second job but with little success so far. Ive tried all my local pubs and resturants but im going to keep on trying until i succeed. I may start writing to local estate agents and see if they have any weekend work going, i would prefer evening work though but beggars cant be choosers :T

Thanks for all the help and support over the last 5 months peps

Take care everyone

Pixie

Good news, good news. Watching that debt reduce by significant chunks is heartening isn't it. I've had 6 of my creditors accept so far and they have all agreed to freeze the interest, inculding MBNA!!! Can't wait until they all accept and all the interest is frozen and can really watch it plummet

  • Hello beautiful,

Keep up the good work chick - you know we're all with you! You are doing really well (I know, I know - I sound like a broken record...)

Ms_London mentioned the other day that gumtree.com (don't know if it covers your area?) had loads of estate agents advertising for weekend staff?

Anyway - buyer not behaving himself and I have to sort out a dispute on eBay - gggrr - tell you later, but I had better go...

    Hey pixie1

Great idea to start your own thread. Glad the DMP is working out so well for you. Clearly it was the right decision for you.

I hope the DCA plays ball and you get even more things sorted.

So happy for you. Keep up the good work! :T :T :T

Well I totalled up my bank charges and Im claiming £720 back - Ive sent the 14 days notices letter to the Halifax, fingers crossed I will hear something from them very soon as Im totally broke.

I dont really know how but Im really broke this month, Im on a tight budget every month but I normally manage to get through the month....Ive only made it to the 15th this month :( and I dont get paid again until the 30th  Ive done a lot more MS jobs this month, going out for nice meals, I do get the money back but you have to wait a month to get it and I think this is what has set me back, this and having to pay for my car to be serviced, mot'd and taxed this month :(

Dispite selling loads of stuff last weekend on ebay Im still left with just pennies in my bank account not pounds as I owed an ebay invoice from last month.

So I may have to rethink the dfw social as June is an expensive month for me anyway (Hubby's birthday) :( I will keep you all posted regards to this as it will only be as a last resort that I cancel.

On a brighter note, Ive got a trial for a part time job which starts tonight, fingers crossed they will like me, I like them and the shifts Im offered fit around my day job. I really hope it goes well. I would love to be able to last all month and only live on my part time job money so that I can plough my big job money onto my debts or save it to make final settlement offers to people.

    Thanks for listening

    Pixie

p.s. I managed to loose another pound this week too - so its not all bad:j

Good luck with the trial pixie.I always pay my ebay bill as a one off payment before I withdraw my paypal money, then I know I don't owe them anything.
My hubby's birthday soon too, don't tell him but his pressie is being paid for by quidco's dvd rentals!

First off - Im sorry I havent been around much recently. I have lurked a little and I miss you all, its just hard to juggle everything at the moment.

    Well a little catch up......

The halifax have agreed to give me back my bank charges and court costs :j they have however put the money into an account i cant access due to my dmp :( Im trying to get this money issued to me by cheque so the funds can be distributed between all my ceditors. Either way Im happy, at least Ive got the money back.

Ive managed to get a part time job  I work in my local bar / resturant 3 nights per week approx 10 hrs. Its only £5.25 per hr but it means that i can pay my debts off quicker and it gets me out of the house as I was just slobbing around all the time.

Ive managed to sell loads more stuff on ebay, Ive made approx £450 in the last 6 weeks :j I still have lot more stuff to sell although all the good stuff has gone really. I just need to juggles things so i have time to list it all, what ever doesnt sell is going to a car boot sale.

Since I started my dmp ive paid off 2k off my debts, i still have a long way to go but at least the balances are coming down. Two debts have been passed to dca's which i was really worried about to begin with but the cccs have been excellent in everyway, helping me all they can.

On a more personnal note.......Ive told Hubby about my debts  he doesnt know the full extent of it but he knows Im on a dmp and that my credit rating it shot and will be forever because I just cant handle credit. He was very understanding and now watches what I spend my money on more, in a nice way.

We had a heart to heart a few weeks back, I was at my lowerst and I told him that I just 'couldnt do this anymore' life was just getting too hard for me. I had family problems that came to a head at totally the wrong time and I just couldnt cope with everything on my own. I have to say I feel better for it and since then ive started to be more proactive at sorting myself out i.e. my part time job, ebay etc. Hubs has been his usual wonderful self too, helping me along the way.

So there you go, thats my update. Its not all good but it could of been a lot worse.

    Hugs

    Pixie

  • Hello beautiful,

Howya! I'm so glad you have told your hubby - so pleased. I felt for you so much keeping all that quiet - at least you don't have to hide the post or lie about who was on the phone anymore. He sounds like a lovely, lovely man.

You sound like you are doing really well - I'm so proud of you for eBay and the part time job - I had a part time job but only lasted a day and a half as I couldn't hack it - working 7 days a week, I am not cut out for!

So sorry I haven't been in touch recently - life's been a bit mad and I'm looking forward to everything calming down over the next few weeks - email to follow soon - I promise!
