What an idiot!
I've just checked my bank account and I've gone over my overdraft limit... By less than £7. The day before pay day:eek: And why you might ask? Because I was too pig headed to admit that we were broke and so when some chums owed me money at the weekend I said "No, it's OK -- transfer the money when you have it"
And now I will have a £15 "management charge" and a £5 charge for being over limit for 1 day.
How stupid am I?.... Let the thrashing begin!

Try not to be so soft with people as it isn't helping you in the long run. They offered to pay you back, you didn't even have to chase them.Barclaycard 3800

phone up the bank and say what a wonderful customer you have been ...or something like that and ask them to reverse the charges.0

hi
A similar thing happened to me last month.. I bank with HSBC. I sent them a message on their online banking and they agreed to cancel the charge but said not to do it again!! It's worth asking...0 -
 I know the feeling all too well - but hey, you've found out straight away and have a much better chance of getting the bank to drop the charge because of it. I'd say that's a sign that you're 'getting better with money' eh?
(sorry, couldn't resist!)

Thanks for all your replies. I definitely won't do this again!
I am going to try and get any charges refunded...I have a question though, Should I wait til the charges are applied and then try and get them refunded, or is it better to pre-empt it and contact the bank now?0 -

I would pre-empt (this is what I did for my OH last week) They will probably still take the charge anyway but will hopefully refund it. If you pre-empt that thats a few days less that the charge is there, and I guess it shows that you are paying attention to your account.!

I'm with Duncans Mum on this one - in my experience the sooner you spot the error the happier they are to refund you (ok, maybe 'happy' is a bit strong ;-) ) Let us know how you get on?
Don't know who you're with, but in case it helps I'm with HSBC and they've refunded me several times, lloyds did too(only happened once with them).January '06 Grocery Challenge (4th - 31st) £320.Week 1 - £73.99 Week 2 £5.10 (so far)
