    I watched this on the 6pm news.

    I wonder why they are making such a story about this man when there are thousands of homes in UK without mains electricity. Most manage with a diesel generator.


    Was it last year they speny £millions to supply electricity to a few houses in Eigg?

    Plenty of houses dont have energy, he knew his house didnt when he moved in many years ago. If energy suppliers paid that sort of money then we would pay in higher bills
    Might be cheaper just to get a wind turbine fitted

    You would think that some of the green energy companies would take the initiative and use this as a test bed to prove their tech?

    Renting or leasing a solar hw and power system ,being coastal wind has a shot too , and would be about the same as what he would pay in power bills.

    Theres a very big advertising opportunity here
    Have you tried turning it off and on again?

    For a variety of reasons it is not practical to have wind or solar electricity generation for a house without being connected to mains electricity.

    It just wouldn't work.
