                    Hi everyone!
I posted this in the Arm's but they suggested I post it here.. So here it goes
The situation is that my boyfriend has Scheuermann's kyphosis and obviously it hurt's him now and again after he finishes work etc. I've researched it and i know a bit about it now, but i was wondering if anyone else has come across this illness? I want to help as much as i can and he said it help's when i rub his back but i was wondering if anyone has tried a massage that seemed to help? or applying heat or something?
Obviously I can't fix the illness but I want to try help ease the pain
Hope that make's sence. Ta x

massage will help but also if his case is not too bad then posture and back straightening exercises should help. If he makes a concious effort to keep himself straight eventually it should bcopme second nature.MoneySavingStudent wrote: »Hi everyone!

Unfortunatly the upper spine is pretty stiff so he cant straighten up at all. Im quite happy to massage him and help etc but I was just wondering if theres a certain way of doing it for people with his condition? xI'm getting married in August 2015:j0

Not so good then. I would say try putting him on a sort of rolled up cushion just below his neck. face down so that there is a gap under his chest and then massage but gently pushing down to try and stretch the back.MoneySavingStudent wrote: »Unfortunatly the upper spine is pretty stiff so he cant straighten up at all. Has he ever seen a chiropractor or someone specialising in deep tissue massage. Ive know a few people with the disease through my work and they have all benefitted from chiropractic care. Not the type of chiropractic where they "crack" your back out, but basically frequent adjustments to aid the spine maintain its normal correct position....Wealth is not measured by currency0

            Hey!
Yes he's been to a specialist and they did abit of proding and poking then after a couple of appointments they said that he should keep being active and give them a call if he thinks its getting worse....? I'm getting married in August 2015:j0 I'm getting married in August 2015:j0

he should try and find a wellnesss based chiropractor, who will promote true health rather than just allievating symptoms......Wealth is not measured by currency0

Okay thanks I'll see what he think's. I'm not sure if he went through the NHS or something last time. Maybe a good idea to see if he can go private or something?
I don't think it was a nice experience for him though, as I remember him telling me once that the doctor looked at him and then asked another doctor to come in... kind of like the 'Hey John, come see this' kind of story.
I know he's really aware of it, but I don't think it looks bad. Poor thing xI'm getting married in August 2015:j0
