Morning, bit sleepy today.. glad it's Friday. Frustrated by work - getting this interesting extra stuff to do is making me realise how cr*p the normal stuff is. Still waiting to hear from two jobs I applied for.
Visited new Aldi shop - which is very conveniently on the way home from work - last night, first day open and wow it was busy! Got 6 kiwi fruit for 49p - I'd tried some kiwi chutney at the farmers market the other week and wanted to try and make it. Ended up with a kiwi and date concoction which is really tasty!
In other news.. eek I am running 16 miles on Sunday! Am nervous and excited and really want it to be here NOW! :jDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Hi Squizz! I was going to cut and run - off to London, and I need to do some stuff beforehand ... but ooh, kiwi and date, I like the sound of that. Can you post up on here what you did?
And you're running on Sunday! Thats one of those internet thingies I haven't replied to yet, really sorry - can't do anything right now, but I will tomorrow before Sunday, I promise.

No worries Karma!
Recipe (of sorts):
6 kiwi fruit, chopped into chunks (mine were about 1cm cubes but could do smaller if you wanted it smoother)
1 onion, diced
Couple of handfuls of dried dates, chopped
Handful of sultanas
Put all of above into saucepan with enough white wine vinegar to just cover ingredients. Add ginger, cinnamon, tiny pinch of chilli. Stir in some sugar - I just poured it out of the bag but probably about a cup full.
Bring to boil, then simmer for half an hour or so, depending how thick/ squidgy you want it. Makes one large jar fullDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -

Thanks Sal! I'm planning lots of chutney and pickles too, we need to fill our stash of empty jars, and of course there will be loads of veg to useDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

Thanks for the recipe, Squizz - I have lots of cheapie kiwis too, and some white wine vinegar to use up so I don't take it with me to the new house.
How did the run go? Hoping it went really well for you
