Hurray to holiday hunting! I was on youtube last night, ended up looking at blooper reels for some of my favourite shows :) and one interview tape by James Marsters and David Boreanaz which was *astonishingly* boring - I suspect they may not like each other if it was that dull.....

Hello all.. thought I'd pop on as it's a fairly quiet day and the rest of my office has vanished to a meeting somewhere.

Weekend was good - so hot on Saturday.. went and spent my leaving pressie voucher in Homebase on lots of plants (got impatient waiting for the tomatoes we've grown from seed so have got some bigger plants.. plus a new lavender as I sort of killed the old one :o).. rest of the day was spent potting things up and tidying, a quick run and then dinner of steak and homegrown spinach and chard.

Sunday it was pouring when we got up, so it was mostly reading the papers with the odd dash out to the garden to remove all the slugs that had emerged in the rain.. fun! Did pop out briefly to sports shop to get a little backpack so I can run home from work some days - was finding it really hard to get out in the evenings with getting home later, so hopefully this will work! Got the Race for Life in a couple of weeks so need to get a bit of practise in!

Still kind of worried about Mr S.. he had the usual Monday blues this morning, and he was giving himself a really hard time yesterday because he keeps forgetting to tell me things.. nothing important but there was a festival thing on that we would have liked to have gone to - if he'd remembered to tell me about it.. and a few other things like when he was working late the other week. I think it's part of feeling depressed. As for the festival, we do have a habit of finding events that sound good then forgetting to go to them, so I'm thinking maybe we need a calendar so we at least remember they're on..probably do us both good to get out more. We have planned a meal out this week so that's something.

You both have lives - of course you need a calendar :rotfl: how have you managed till now without one? Oh, okay, you forget things :o:o:o

Seriously, I couldn't manage without my diary - friends, relatives, work, events, financial deadlines, phone calls I need to make - it'd be impossible. Admittedly, work is a bit complicated for me by being self employed, but still.....

Running out in the gaps between the rain sounds like fun - actually it sounds horrendous, but the image is funny :rotfl:I was bashing a very old bamboo armchair to pieces so I could put it in the bin :o and trying to make sure that the snails survived to potter away to somewhere else.

Hope they all re-materialise from their meeting soon .

It did get a bit obsessive with the slug-hunting yesterday - both hunched down scanning the ground... :rotfl:

I forgot to mention two things - last night we ate our first homegrown courgette! :j and on Saturday I got a court summons for non-payment of Council Tax  Except I have paid the first two installments (slightly late right enough, but paid).. so have sent off a rather strongly worded email this morning!

And you're right, we need a calendar.. then we might actually do some of these things! Honestly, we spend 99% of evenings at home, which is nice enough, but I feel we could both do with some more things to look forward to during the week.

Ha, you can send a great email there!

And yes, even if home life is lovely, you need a life outside too! I've learned that myself all over again these last few years

Ohhhh well done on the courgette....mine have only just started to bud up so actual edible bits will be a while yet.

My mangetouts are running riot this year, peas are doing a very weak and weary impression of peas, runner beans have started flowering but are only about 3 foot tall, strawberries are all fruiting up nicely and the potatoes are sprouting away merrily.

My tomato seedlings went from one leaf wisps to full on tomato plants over the weekend....I think they enjoyed the heat.

Just about out of salad leaves now too so need to get some more on the go.....luckily though we hardly get any slugs....no idea why as there's no frogs about.

Aww I love hearing everyone's gardening updates!

Have you maybe got hedgehogs Pooky? They like eating slugs too :D

The strawberry plant I bought on Saturday (cheap because it already had fruit on and was outgrowing its pot), has now got one very bright pink strawberry! Peas and beans are starting to flower although they refuse to grow in the directions I think they should :rotfl:

The running home from work plan worked quite well last night, will take a bit of getting used to the backpack though, just feels a bit odd cos I'm not used to it. Anyway, I just ran straight home and it only took me 15 mins so that's handy to know if I need to get home quickly! Will normally be taking a detour and doing half an hour or so though.

In my effort to find things to do I trawled the local events site yesterday - found a farmers market which is only on quarterly is on this Sunday so that's on the (as yet non-existent) calendar! Annoys me how many interesting things are on during the week when I can't go though!

15 mins to run home! Thats excellent! And such a good way of multitasking :)

Now you just have to *remember* the farmer's market!
