Hmmm I'm sure that one of Orange's selling points is that they do a "best plan review" after six months....... I'd try again in a few days and milk the hardship can't afford it angle. See if they can put you through to a department that deals with hardship and ask them very nicely if they are able to drop you a tarriff or two as you are struggling to pay your bills at the moment.
Found the Orange website page on the Best Plan review stuff:

Never underestimate the power of the techno-geek... ;)
  • Thanks Jes, thought I'd heard that correctly, in fact I always change my plan after six months.

Hopefully OP will be reassured that the person she spoke to didn't know what he was talking about and will try again.

Even if she can't get it changed yet, she doesn't have quite so long to wait now!

Just thought I would update - have managed to change my phone plan to £20 a month - this was as low as i felt i could go without going over my inclusive minutes but i will keep an eye on things and possibly reduce again in a few months.
Have paid of Virgin Credit Card but not transferred o/d yet as account not yet showing as clear but will give them a ring (hopefully tomorrow) when it does clear.
Have earnt £60 with Quidco so far and put a few books on ebay - nothing major on that front but every little helps and every time i get £50 in my paypal im going to transfer it to my current account and then make a c/c payment.
I did have a little slip up on friday when I paid for a takeaway for me and my oh £15:eek: but i don't want to deprive myself too much or im not going to stick to the plan!

Anyway thanks for the kind advice and encouragement - if you have any other ideas please feel free to let me know!!!
