hi all,
I froze some fresh chicken breast last week and froze it and now want to cook it for dinner,is it safe to cook it from frozen or do I have to defrost it first?and also is it safe to defrost in a microwave?

It needs to be defrosted before cooking. You can defrost in a MW, but needs to be on defrost setting or on a lower power level IYKWIM. I generally take out night before as I dont like using the MW for this, but have never known anyone to have any problems.

My mum has always told me that if you defrost it in a microwave, then to use it straight away. This is because if you don't keep an eye on it whilst it is defrosting or don't put it on the correct setting, it may start to cook slightly.
I always get mine out the night before and leave it in a lidded dish overnight on the side. When I get up in the morning, I pop it in the fridge and then use it that evening. I've never had any problems doing it this way (except forgetting to get it out of the freezer :rolleyes: )0
