McKneff - can you not pay voluntary class 3 contributions under the new "Hollis" scheme?

The injustice is simple. If one partner works and pays full contributions, you get 160% between you. If you both work (and therefore pay twice as much), you only get 200% between you ie. 25% more for 100% more contributions.
No, I can't agree with this. You may see some kind of odd logic in it, but I don't. I can't see what's wrong with each paying in and each getting full pension. What we get 'between us' is irrelevant, since we both receive it in our own right, no going cap-in-hand to anyone else. We worked, we get pension. Simples, as Aleksandr the meerkat says.

It's a social thing isn't it?The 60% pension which will be claimable by either sex post 2010, reflects society's presumed support for the idea that if one partner wishes to stay at home and bring up children, then it's appropriate for a reduced pension to be paid later.
I'd have thought most people probably support making that option available.Trying to keep it simple...
