Those bags are a nightmare, I've got £24 in the correct amounts ( £5 in 20p's etc) but another £10 in mixed coins
banks don't really like taking mixed coins!!! Don't know why as its all bloomin money!!
They don't like it because a cashier has to sort and count the coins when there might be a queue behind you; if I was in that queue I wouldn't like it either. If you sort the coins all they have to do is weigh the bags to get the amount.loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0

How much faith do you have that these machines 'count' your money the amount properly? I mean say you put £7 in coppers in but it told you it was £6.50......0

Lucky you lot! My bank isn't even open at the weekend in fact it's barely open during the week! Shuts at 4pm everyday - if I want to pay a cheque in I have to take the day off work!0

Also trying to lug all the bags of coins to a bank is a nightmare - I had about £35 worth of coins (10p and 20p) and I think using a forklift truck would have been slightly easier than trying to carry them!:D0

I find it quite therapeutic to bag my loose change up. I did it the other day, along with my £2 coins and have £120....result! . .
Especially when I have just checked my bank and my balance is £30 short to cover everything that goes out between now and the 6th. (bloody council tax!!Grrlol)May £10 a day challenge£19.61/£310Ebay challenge...£12.61/£2000

For me, 50p coins and higher can be re-spent just fine, it's just the smaller denominations that are a nuisance to count and bag!0

I always use the self service tills in supermarkets and load all my lower denomination coins in there.

I thought I would find out which Barclays branches have the coin machines I referred to above. It seems someone has beaten me to it. I can't insert a link because I'm a Newbie, but if you search on Barclays coin counting machines, it will come up (thread started 22/7/09 at 2:13pm).
So thank you to pumpkin_soup for getting the information. I hope they are well used and then maybe more will appear in other branches.Mortgage, draw down Sept 2014: £222,000

I dont use coinstar (cos im a tight A*** and wouldnt want to give them 7%) - I have a coin sorter, and a set of digital scales - total outlay of about £14 - (so after £200 i am in profit) - only ever had to weigh one bag of coins for each denomination. No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.
