can I still use ....

Ive just been clearing out the freezer to make more room and get rid of the old stuff. Ive come across .....
chicken stock made at Christmas
cream partially whipped frozen on its use by date at Christmas
smoked haddock bought reduced with a use by of July last year
salmon fillets bought reduced with use by of July last year
I really dont want to chuck them. Can they still safely be used without the risk of poisoning us all?

As far as I know, yes to all :)

If in unsure let everything defrost and do a sniff test. remember the old rule "If in doubt, chuck it out"

My understanding of the science of freezing is that food is safe if it has been frozen providing it is not left hanging around after thawing but there may be a deterioration in the taste especially with high fat products e.g. duck.

I have just posted about my longtime frozen plums, as to what to do with them and how safe are they. A nice piece of Haddock has reappeared so a fish pie will probably be safe enough if eaten straight away.

Well i'd eat them!! Allow them to defrost and cook straight away. Eat that day. But, as an earlier poster has said, if you are in doubt after they have defrosted then chuck it out.

    Probably will be fine though.
