I wouldn't have thought you had anything to worry about.
i also would have preferred a face to face interview. At least you won't have to hold a phone to your ear for 45 minutes, getting a really hot ear in the process!!!!
Good luck, let us all know how it goes...0 -
lol ear burn is so nasty isn't it? Read on here that someone had a 3 1/2 hour phone interview, bet they wish they'd bought a hands free thingy before they went bankrupt :rotfl::rotfl:
I'm definitely feeling better now guys thanks so much
If it's right that they're pulling in people who have a business that's sounds a bit more sensible than chefs, maybe they meant just self employed not self employed chefs, that could explain it... not that I really had a business, it's just one of these situations where they put you as self-employed so you don't have many rights :rotfl:0 -

Were you self employed through an agency?
Did you use one of those companies that you pay and they deal with tax and expenses? I can't remember what they call them. I believe one is called NovaBetter to be poor than a slave to wealth

Both my OH and myself used umbrella companies prior to BR but we weren't called in for interview.Look down your nose at me and I thumb my nose back at you.

No, I just worked as self-employed, I think the accountant said I was classed as a sole trader, very little expenses and what not so I just did my own tax returns.0

Have they asked for the accounts and relating paperwork before you speak to them, as I presume this will help them with the case.
They had mine but only the previous year and then they only wanted a summary, not the full monty.Better to be poor than a slave to wealth

No, that's another strange thing, they've only asked for papers concerning my tax debts. They did ask about bank statements but as I couldn't provide statements for all my accounts said they could get them from the bank. I thought they were going to be asking for a lot more things, they haven't asked for valuations of the house or anything either.

Are there any debts relating to being a sole trader? That can be one of many reasons for a F2F interview.0

Really, sometimes it can be something as simple as the next person on the list had a spare space in their day for a FTF interview, Sometimes they prefer that people who live near by do FTF and people far away to Telephone (subject to reason of course).
Look on the brightside, you get a free cup of tea when you goHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.

My debts are a personal loan from the bank and to HMRC, could the tax thing be the reason do you think? Surely they can't pull in everybody who owes money to the tax man  I live about 60 miles away from the office, not exactly near-by but not too far. I guess I'll find out when I get there. You're right, at least I get a cup of tea to go with the nervous sweating and shaking hands, maybe I'll drop it on the OR and get out of it completely
