Hello folks - its been a while since I posted here.
So - I thought I was doing excellently - I was selling things and I was scanning my shopping and living (I thought) quite frugally.
I am getting close to when I wish to be debt-free (July 2010) and I haven taken stock of where I am.
Wow - so much further behind than I hoped. To meet my deadline of july 2010 I would need to pay off a minimum of 516.67 a month . A slightly more reasonable dead is - wait for it - 9 months so about October.
I got so cocky - so damn arrogant at how well I was doing "look at me - I have been clearing my debts and no longer have 5k of debt anymore! Oh well, surely I can go out for this meal, or eat at this restaurant, or buy this game... or...or".
I have games - plenty of them! I have eaten at some nice restaurants. But my clothes are falling apart and I need new trousers... My food bill is higher than it should be (51 quid without little shops here and there) and my pack lunches are becoming less and less frequent...
I have, quite simply - fallen off the bandwagon.
I have wondered away from these ever-reminding forums of my situation and instead the most recent thought is "oh well, have to hope I clear them in time...". I have figured I was doing alright and instead I wasn't paying attention at all and setting myself fairly easy goals.
Where did it all go wrong? My spending diary at the beginning of the year is full of notes, mentions, information. Now the last few weeks has been ignored. My penny bank is opened and been dipped into a few times... with the never-ending promise that I will put it back in eventually - i just need it for today. I can't pinpoint the moment I stopped paying attention. Probably when I started doing alright and actually having money at the end of the months, or started actually seeing the figures go down.
I need to go through my finances - look at the last month and pinpoint the purchases that have been made that have killed my finances so quickly.
I will be lucky if I can push to taking about 250-300 off my debt this month - this figure should be 400-450. I have lost about 150 quid somewhere. I need to find out where and stop it happening again.
Redo my SOA, redo my Snowball - see where I can trim it all down. Decide what I am using, and what I am not. July is quite honestly out of the window - so will push for August/September instead.
Track. Back. On. Going to post regularly - going to keep on target with my spending diary again and prove to myself that I CAN do this.Sealed Pot No:721 started 05/08/09 until 30/04/09 Target:£100 - £60 Banked!
