Challenge: What Can't I Clean?

Hello all - long-time lurker, newbie poster here so be kind!!

I'm about to move into a new flat with my OH (my first "proper" ie. non-shared place) and, having taken the advice of you old-stylers, I have armed myself with white vinegar, Stardrops and microfibre cloths (different colours for different chores - nobody can accuse me of being disorganised!!)

So, my challenge to you is what can I not clean with these three little miracles? And what should I use instead for these jobs?

In case you need to know, the flat has white/cream carpets in the bedroom, study and hallway, dark wooden floors in the kitchen and lounge, and ceramic tiles on the bathroom floor. The bathroom suite is white porcelain (or whatever they use that isn't plastic!!) and the sofas are white with non-removable covers (I'm _pale_ just at the thought!!!).

So do I need anything else in the way of cleaning products? And what ratio water:vinegar should I be using for different jobs?

I'm assuming that, after 66 views and no replies, there is nothing that can't be cleaned with these three things...

    Hiya,

Best of luck on the whites.

I'm pretty new as well and havn't yet used the stardrops or vinegar, still using up a stack of seperate cleaning products.

The only thing that springs to mind that you couldn't clean, re. the vinegar would be marble maybe, not sure on that though.

Everything else, I reckon is fine.
  • Hi Roz_V

Good luck with the flat move.

I'm new to using Stardrops myself. But I found it fantastic in the bathroom, that was on the sink, tiles, bath and then again in the ensuite, infact the shower cubicle looked brilliant for days, no water marks. I did use a microfibre cloth for those jobs which was put into a solution of stardrops to water and wrung out. I've used it in the kitchen too, and that was on a white hob, white units, white plastic sink (I must be mad to have an all white kitchen! ) cermaic tiles and wall tiles.

I havent a clue about white carpets. Only advice is take your shoes off at the door  you can buy microfibre door mats, we have 2, one outside the front door and one at the back door. Plus they are machine washable too.

White sofa, blimey, no idea. Ask for a couple of throws as a flat warming present. I really dont know about using stardrops on fabric, not something that i think i would do.

Sorry, cant help with the vinegar ration either. I've never fancied the vinegar thing, incase it smells, I know the rest of the OSers will be screaming at their pc's now, but thats just me. But you really cant go wrong with the microfibre cloths. I used them the first time this weekend, and I had hairspray on a mirror which was just wiped off with little effort.

One tip, dont use stardrops in the car, my hubby was cleaning the inside of the car and because I had gone on about how fab the cloths and stardrops are he decided to clean the car. Anyway, he said it was all streaky inside.

Hope this has been of some help. I did see the post when you first put it on, but I was hoping that someone with more eperience would come along.
