Dripping - Safe for young kids?

Options
Hiya all :)

Sorry to post asking for help yet again but just started cooking food for our young kids and wanting to make sure this is safe :)

I've got an excellent receipie off of here for Stovies which is onions cooked in dripping in the pan and then potatoes added and left to bake in the dripping for about an hour. Once this is ready and the potatoes are all nice and soft you add the corned beef.

Does anybody know if it's safe to give toddlers aged 7 months dripping? I'm unsure about it with it being fat but would be greatful for any advice.

Thanks very much

Shamish

It's perfectly safe, if you don't mind giving your children a life sentance of heart disease! It is beyond me why people still use this sort of fat. I suppose it is money saving to kill yourself as you can't spend when you're dead, but to kill your children? Sorry that I sound harsh, but there's money saving & then, IMHO, there's plain stupidity. Please, use safer vegetable fat & put the dripping out for the birds who thrive on it.

I don't mean to sound rude & everyone to their own & all that, but having lived with a family who suffer heart disease and seen first hand how debilitating it is before it kills you at an early age I beg you don't do it.

Never harmed me (much) when I was growing up. However, I don't use it now that I cook for myself - and have done for 9 years properly! I use olive oil instead.
