Thanks for this, I was stung for £53 in ASDA last night. I distinctly remember their cheapest pineapple being exactly a quid. Worth a look in LIDL next time we do a shop, especially as I love tinned fruits and stuff like that. What are the prices like for tinned fruit?0

I went to aldi myself for the first time yesterday and was thrilled to bits (I don't get out much haha!) I got a bit punnet of plums for 49p,a mango for 49p and all sorts of other things.
for comparison - 1kg of onions in aldi - 69p 1kg of onions in my village shop - over £2!!!
I looked at the tinned fruit and while i can't remember exact prices it seemed cheap compared to other shops....there was a big tub of something or other for 35p.August grocery challenge: £50
Spent so far: £37.40 :A0 -

Lidl wasn't cheap for fresh pineapple yesterday. They were doing 2 for £4.
However their avocados(29p) and cucumbers (34p) where cheap.
The strawberries where the same price as every other supermarket I've been in.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

I was very impressed by Aldis fruit too. Bought a very decent sized pineapple for 49p, melon for 49p and 2 punnets of cherries for 49p each. Cherries are very tasty!0

I thought the pineapples were about half the size of those being sold elsewhere for £1.0 -
I must have been lucky. Compared it to the pineapples which I had bought from Tescos (2 for £2) and it was the same size! I was expecting a small pineapple for 49p but obviously got lucky!0

I was very impressed as sometimes I've bought cherries and they weren't ripe enough but these were perfect. They hadn't been battered around either which was a bonus.0 -
I do well at aldis too, I do a big shop now once a month at sainsburys and go for all their basics stuff with a couple of luxury bits in for a treat and then top up fresh fruit and veg weekly at aldis. This way I have been able to keep within my monthly budget of 250 quid for 4 of us.
I just buy whatever is in the aldi super 6.Save £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000
