I just assume everyone does this. I use the cheap Value scourers (Sponge Pan Cleaner) available in Tesco, Asda and Sainsburys for 15p for 5, thats just 3p each. These little babies do a whole lot more than scouring pans, people! (Pans People
) I make sure I put these in my basket at the supermarket, so I always have them in stock.
They're great for:
* Removing tea and coffee stains from cups and mugs (so no chemicals or the cost of bleach etc...) .
* Cleaning potatoes and other veg.
* Use with liquid soap to remove stubborn stains from your hands ie. dried glue, paint (it's the best dried paint remover, and no nasty smelly chemicals)
* Especially good for removing dried in super glue. Gently rub the area with the rough side of the scourer, slightly moistened.
* Of course you can use them on your pans as well (and your George Foreman grill)

After using them on dishes, or vegetables, I use to clean under the rim of the toilet before finally throwing away.
Waste not, want not.

Save old ones to cut up and mix with the bottom third of the compost in hanging baskets and pots to retain some moisture.0

Wow, I had never even thought of using them to cleam vegetables, never mind putting them in my hanging baskets. Great ideas.0

I also use them in place of expensive filter material in the fish tank filter. I've done it for years & the fish are healthy and the water quality is good :T I've scrubbed potatoes with them for ages nothing gets them quite as clean imho0

I use a clean one for scrubbing lemons with - unwaxed ones are so dear it's cheaper to use a value scourer, buy value lemons and spend a couple of minutes scrubbing!0

So I assumed right, everybody does this already!
I've thought of a few other things. I use cream cleaner with one of these to clean tough worktop dirt, cooker grime and bathroom gunk.
Because they're so cheap I have a few on the go at any one time;
* one for my cats bowls, keep with the bowl (thats usually a demoted old one on its last legs)
* a few for bathrooms for use with cream cleaner
* fresh one only for veg & potatoes (usually keep that dry and tucked away somewhere)
* one for kitchen cleaning by the kitchen sink
Sometimes I get different coloured ones, for example, Asda & Sainsburys (yellow sponge) and Tesco (white sponge) I'll keep one colour for food and kitchen only and use another colour in the bathroom. That way they can't get mixed up.0 -
They are great for brushing up suede shoes tooI'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0

we cut one up to make peas (the green bit) and chips (the yellow bit) on a paper plate for ds homework....i like the different colour different uses idea...and doing the toilet with one on its last legs...then to be chuckedonwards and upwards0

I use them for scrubbing ink off hands. DDs have a terrible habit of writing on the back of their hands at school and even a bath doesn't get it off. These take the ink off in seconds and don't leave their hands as red as scrubbing with a nail brushIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

I keep one of those cheap sponge scourers in the car. They are much cheaper then a "Bug Shifter" from a car accessory shop. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0
