When false debt chasing becomes defamation - Aktiv Kapital

I have been falsely pursued by Aktiv Capital (Thames Credit) for £640 since March 2007. I had no redress until they lodged a default notice on my credit record in Jan 2009. I was able to threaten proceedings for defamation. My solicitors secured damages of £xxxx and a correction notice was published by Aktiv Capital in the London Gazette on 27 May with full apology as part of the settlement.
I have throughout wanted to succeed in exposing this Group's underhanded practices to encourage others who have been falsely pursued to use my case to threaten legal response to false pursuant of debt.

Well done you treble!!! That's fab. Can't believe you got dosh from Aktiv - I've read some bad things about them on these posts.
I know its a terrible paper but the Daily Mail has a financial person writing for them who has tackled a couple of cases of false debt claims for readers recently. I'm sure one of them was Aktiv too. In one case the DCA was calling the neighbours about someone's alleged debt and asking them to get her to contact them!! Stinks doesn't it?
i really wish Parliament would start tackling these debt collectors adn their tactics some of theme are disgusting. Shall we all write to our MPs? They might be on the end of some of these firms soon lol.0 -
This case has just been on Radio 4's Moneybox.

Good for you Treble Well done. These debt collection agencies are very very quick to post Defaults/arrangements/missed payments to the CRA's but are not so quick to post settlements! A major overhaul is required immediately especially the conduct of DCA's.DFW Nerd no. 1191;)Maximum Debt £33k in 2007  all on CC's (I know, lesson learned; never consolidate and not cut up the cards!)Now completely debt free, but it was a double edged sword0
