£703 BILLION of new debt

It makes not a jot of difference who wins the next election.
Public spending (and everything else) is going to be slashed and hacked to bits like you wouldn't believe next year.
There is absolutely no other option.
£703 BILLION of extra borrowing!!!

The Interest EACH year will be £46 BILLION pounds to service the debt!!! (on Ch4 news now)
And that's if he hits his recovery targets, which every commentator I've seen says are wildly optimistic.
All Clown has done is postpone the mayhem till after the next election.
Stop thinking about the small stuff about this year folks, and falling for Clowns deceit. This pain is going to go on for DECADES.

On the plus side though, I had a couple of really nice beers last night and because I didn't eat much yesterday I found myself returning home quite drunk after a just a couple of drinks. Mrs Cleaver was watching Hell's Kitchen when I got in and I spent 10 minutes wondering why Yasser Arafat was running the restaurant.
I have no opinion on the budget. Zilch. I've kinda stopped caring. Billions, trillions, zillions, GDP, "real terms", 11% of this, twenty years of that, yadda yadda. I'm honestly coming to the conclusion that the recession will end in 2010 because we'll all get bored of it and want to focus on something else. Ooh, I did hear an estate agent being interview on TalkSport radio today who says he's selling lots of houses though, so maybe this will solve absolutely everything.
Possibly my most pointless contribution for quite a while.0 -

You're certainly not wrong there, Cleaver.

If I were Darling I would have cut all public spending by 20% today and would get rid of the endless layers of pointless, beuracratic management within the public sector and curtail their gold-plated pensions. The vast majority of public sector workers would fail in the private sector and I object paying their unsustainable pensions.
That better?0 -
Confusing after a couple of strong real ales.
Edit: just seen on Wikipedia that Arafat died in 2004. Come to think of it, that does ring a bell. However, it didn't ring a bell last night and for a brief second the notion of a former Chairman of the Palestinian National Authority teaching Bruce Grobbelaar how to cook a decent turbot seemed a fantastic idea for light entertainment.0 -

Sounds sensible.
Like the comment about Yasser though.
Just out of interest, which ale was that. Just for future reference of course;)0 -
