I'll get the income and expenditure done tomorrow, but heads battered thinking about it all! I was thinking of putting £400 pm done for food, equating to £100 p/w, would that sound unreasonable? I bet we do spend something close to that, with all the bits and bobs!
    [/QUOTE]

BTW, that sounds reasonable to me.

I think DottyDora you have misread. I was referring to Cableguy 12 and the comment about tightening up on food. To ensure bills got paid. Anyway, carry on. So whatever you think you saw just then wasn't.
you can keep the sky even if you was bankrupt and you applied for sky you would still get as they dont credit check you, as for bills etc be honest but food should be tighter than normal, if you owe no money to abbey they should not freeze the account, ask then to convert it to a basic account, condition of bankruptcy is to have no credit available so cancel the overdraft,

Self explicit really what my reply was actually about. Never mind. Continue to give the OP whatever advice they need.
Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return. Offered freely, is gleaned from a lifetime of experiences, knowledge gaining. Passed on to benefit others. I may be direct, ask you questions but those are to help you. Up to you if you choose to take it. I won't judge you either way.
  • No worries people, I think a lot of it's me anyway, i'm a ickle bit touchy at the mo lol!

Thanks everyone for your comments so far.

Now I'm really confused. I thought your response to cable guy was a joke as I didn't think it was reasonable to tighten up on food! Hence my laughing at your comment about starving to pay the bills. If I did infact misread this and that wasn't what it was all about sorry!

Hi northernmonkey, not sure about your daughters account but
I would imagine that it is her money and it's you and your OH
that are going BR and not her
I had put my Union Fees on my forms and OR said nothing

  • Make sure you take professonal advice from one of the debt charites before you go bankrupt as the court may send you away until you have.

  • regarding the bank account issue, can i open a Co-op acc before going BR to have my wages paid in? This would be handy as i can supply work with the correct digits for BACS payment, or would this get frozen too?
I've been through the mill once or twice and come out the other side...
  • Yes you can. The Co-op are very bankrupt friendly and don't freeze accounts.

The only time there has been a problem that I can recall on here are with people going bankrupt in Brighton and that is down to the OR's office.

  • Thanks everyone for your help so far. I don't really understand this so if someone could help, that'll be great. What i've done, is due to the fact that we have a joint account, get paid on the same day, i just halved everything down the middle (except wages) all house bills anyway!

If people think i'm going over the top on things, or not enough on others, then please feel free to alter it, a the end of the day, we want a little hassle from the OR as poss!

    Many Thanks.

  • Hi Northernmonkey. just a couple of questions please. How have you managed to keep a bank account with an overdraft when you entered into an IVA as this should have been put into it and your account closed.
And, have you got your failure certificate to go to court with as most courts from what I can gather will require this after being in an IVA.
    Money Talks ...
but all mine ever says is Goodbye!
